The Boks will probably have to have a black captain at the next World Cup.. Kolisi will be 36 by the next World Cup, and it is hard to see him as a first-choice starter by then. Although apparently, Tsituka was born in the Congo, not SA.

Kolisi has had some fantastic games for the Boks -usually when it is an open-running, high-tempo game. He is more of a number 8 than an openside flanker. Unlike most test teams, the Boks often go into games without a specialist open sider whose primary focus is the breakdown. This got exposed over the weekend badly, as was the case in many SA teams playing overseas before the international season.

Tsituka looked solid at 7 for the Boks and could be a new cap experiment that will pan out.

The Boks need to be testing some specialist fetchers at 6 to replace Kolisi (And Deon Fourie)

It was a pity that Hanekom was injured, as he is very effective at the breakdown, while also being a better all-rounder who can carry the ball up or link with the backs.

Vincent Tshituka has served as captain at the club level. Specifically, he acted as stand-in captain for the Sharks during a United Rugby Championship match against Cardiff in March 2025, when regular captain Siya Kolisi was resting due to Springbok protocols. In that match, Tshituka led the team, impressed with his leadership, and earned man-of-the-match honours for his performance, particularly in the lineouts and defence.

Additionally, Tshituka has spoken about his leadership role within the Sharks, describing his experience as team leader in the United Rugby Championship.

His form has been improving throughout this season.

Please not...like him as a player, but making him player just because he is black is just plain wrong... there are other more deserving players.

Marx!!!

He should have been made captain ages ago.

Probably the best overall player in the side and the correct position for a captain too.

I don’t think Marx has ever lead a side - maybe he is just not leadership material

With Kolisi out, Eben should have lead the side

Nice for Jessie to have lead the side but it undermines Eben’s leadership given he has lead the side in the past and was in the side

Pollard comes across as a leader as well

Absolutely agree with DB….what has springbok Rugby become?? Just because his black is BS!

A candidate must be worthy of being a captain, his experience and leadership capabilities is important….

Make him captain so that the more worthy white candidates can help him all the time, make decisions??

Like Kollisi??

What utter nonsense has SA Rugby become …..with Erasmiss leading the farce??

Enough to say Damm this fake show…where the hell will it end?? BS supreme !

Kolisi has been a good captain, but I dont think he will make the next World Cup.

Had Duane Vermuelen been younger during the Rassie era, I think he would have been a better captain than Kolisi.

However, I still say that Kolisi should be playing number 8 - and there should be a number 6 on the pitch that competes at every breakdown.

Maybe Kollisi is a better captain now, only because of all the help he had of a stable core around him….

Eben, Pieter, Vermeulen,s help is the only reason he became better… the only reason he was made captain is because he is black fact….

Marx?

He can barely spell his own name! Now you want him to lead the best team in the world.

Must say, Vincent does exude leadership potential. I'd like to see him lead a URC team for a season first though.

I've listened to Marx speak in a good few interviews and he's a very disciplined guy on the field. Combine that with the fact that he's probably our best forward...I can't see why he shouldn't be captain. I like Eben but not as a captain. He needs to be allowed to focus only on his psycho mindset and not have to burden himself with worrying about focusing the team. I think that captaincy detracts from Eben's best assets.

Marx is exactly the kind of no-nonsense and respected character that the Boks could use in the WC.

For me, he's been our best player for a long time, he got thrown in at the deep end against the ABs in his first games as a Bok, but it only took him about 5 or so games before he was our best forward, and that's been the status quo ever since.

The change that made the biggest difference this past weekend was Marx going off with the bomb squad coming on. Immediate loss of dominance and scrum ascendancy resulted. And that loss of full control is what brought in the defensive lapses.

I want Marx as captain and I want him starting every game that matters.

Fuck off you twat!!! It was clear to see that he was guided all the time by the more experienced White candidates …. He is not a good leader, just look at his private life….he is there because he is black!

This Bok set up is bias and not on merit….. anyone with one brain cell can see that, it’s all about black and not merit, who actually is the best candidate.

I will not buy into this bullshit, you can as it suits you perfectly!!! You said the other day that Rugby is your religion and it’s clear to see how lost you are…..

When Marx and Eskom went off the pitch, the breakdown went from bad to worse.

It did not help that first-phase possession dried up, lineouts fell apart, and the scrum became a no-contest.

Kwagga is meant to be the breakdown king so not sure what happened there but then again how much turnover work did Eskom and Marx do?

Look at Twickers before the WC and then the WC final...

Yea the WC final will always be tighter but Marx wasn't there for the final and the Boks weren't nearly as dominant.

Out of all the forwards, Marx is the guy that makes the biggest difference. It's really night and day when he or isn't there.

Kwagga is more of an all-around impact player who can perform the role of any loose forward towards the end of the match. Rassie said that he was the only bench player who played well.

That aside, it is interesting that Rassie stated the bench did not perform well, then he went on to say that he needs a team that is good for 80 minutes. So he appears to be more critical of the bench than the starting side. (at least in the forwards). Perhaps he felt some of the backs fell off pace as well.

Say Mike while you’re on here lying about Esterhuizen, tell us again how many lineouts Mostert missed in the Italy test. But I’m not holding my breath that you will acknowledge you were just ‘bullshit spreading’…you never address your lies, just move on to the next one.

But your internet was probably down you might claim….now it’s back up, just admit, you were lying

Actually, he's better.

But I'm gonna guess that lineout success rates are meaningless because how many times you actually secure your own ball and steal the opposition ball is just a number and numbers don't tell the full story.

Discussing a man as Bok captain who hasn’t proved himself at international level underlines just how cynical this has all become. Vincent is promising but a long way from proving he is the best option at 7 as a player. Let alone captain.

Agreed Moz - Vincent is a great prospect but there is plenty of competition for the 7 jersey [search: what is dogging] when you consider the likes of Elrigh Louw, Ruan Venter, JL du Preez, Ludwig, BJ Dixon, Cobus Wiese and Nortje
