Wallabies Lions Test - teams named
berrick barnes at fullback??? o_O what a waste, deano must be expecting an aerial assault and wishes to counter that with an established kicker, a bit of a waste really, IMO letting folau defuse any situations with his counter attacks would have been a better option.
then again, its not a bad idea to play folau on the wing where he can find his test feet, last thing u want is for him to be thrown in the deep end only to sink like timana tahu who was an epic fail.
ive got a question though, i thought that part of the deal in having the reserves bench go from 22 -23 was that another prop was meant to be the 23rd man, but that the bench should have a loose head reserve and a tight head reserve. can anyone clarify that???
both kepu and slipper are tight heads and i cant recall either of them playing loosie except maybe kepu when the wallabies were in a pinch (guessing). they have alexander who is a well established prop on both sides and then robinson the loosie, will be interesting to see how the scrums roll.
personally i think that pek cowan should have been included, he matches slipper for work around the field and is not a shabby scrummager either.
glad to see that NZ born digby ioane is fit, reports siad that he would be missing out on the first lions test, hence him not making the intial squad until deanos final 6 were named.
digbys an important part of the wallabies lineup, IMO hges the best winger in the world.
horwill might be the captain, but papua new guinea born will guinea is the general who will be directing play, hes not only the worlds best halfback, but hes probably the wallabies most importnat player. i rate smarts very highly in rugby and genia is right up there as one of the smartest players ive ever seen.
good to see NZ born christain leilafano get his chance to shine too, he would have been a shoe in fpor the wallabies last year had he not been one of those on the worst injury sheet ive ever seen from a nation.
nothing better then a 12 whose powerul defender with a top kicking game and is awesome on attack too.
one thing i love about the wallaby squad for the last few years is the versatility their top dogs in the backline have at being able to play multple positions at interantional level, by my count there are
4 players who can play flyhalf (bieber, beale, leilafano, barnes)
5 players who can play inside center (mccabe, bieber, leilafano, barnes, AAC)
3 players who can play outside center (AAC, digby, mccabe)
4 players who can play wing (folau, AAC, bieber, digby)
5 players who can play fullback (folau, bieber, beale, AAC, barnes)
the wallabies arent as storng as they could be, but this team is more then capable of beating anything the lions can put together.
time for the wallabies to avenge the honour of its SANZAR bros whose u20s team were beaten this week, lolz. good luck wallabies, :o)

Not a bad strategy at all Mike. It is one I was also considering but plan on looking at a couple scenarios.
i got my team sorted, wasnt easy but im happy with what ive got all things considered.
whatever u do mikey, best u make ur selections quickly, as apparently players testruby.coms value go up the more people recruit them in their teams, meaning if u leave it later, it could cost u even more.
very surprised to see maitlands name in the team, even if it is on the bench, but the whole rugby world loves having kiwi players and coaches in theire teams i guess, just look at the wallabies, :o)
@oimatey
ur quite the guru on the fantasy rugby scene, i love how u play ur cards chest, u sure ur not a kiwi, cos u have kiwi smarts, :oP
@mikey,
regarding the bench props, both slipper and kepu are tightheads and i think i can vaguley recall kepu playing loosehead against the All Blacks and then getting destroyed, im not 100% sure it was him and i cant remember which match, but i remember the commentators saying that hes (who ever it is i can barely remember, lolz) had no game time at loosehead and it shows, thats why im a little curious, cos alexander might even play a whole 80 minutes, probably the smart thing i guess, hes one of the few props who can play 80mins hard, slipper being the other one.
Ou Maaik, I'm not sure I understand the big problem here. If you go with Corbisiero and Slipper as your Front Rowers you should be able to afford pretty much anyone else you want. Slipper is my only bench player, everyone else is starting.
Edit: I should add, I also have Mike Phillips in my side. He is a bargain at FR$892500 and is my only other budget player. My only worry was which one of James O'Connor, Digby Ioane or Israel Folau to pick as my second OB. Hope I chose right!
Not many of us have made as much coin as you have. An additional 100K goes a long way.
Besides ... is it a matter of selecting a team just to get one on the board ... or ... do us bottom loggers need to be a little daring and select one that may present you boys with a challenge?
If the former then one isn't really playing the game as it should be played (my opinion) ... if the latter then a sacrifice or three may be forced upon us.
The Giants are still snoozing I'm afraid, so I've had to shake things up a tad. Let's just say a cattle prod has been purchased and leave it at that!!
It's not over till the fat lady sings and by the looks of it, she hasn't even started warming her voice up yet.
Goooooooooooooooo Giants!!!!!!!!!
CC, I've just checked and ou Maaik only has about $FR13k less than me and he could afford the exact same team I have.
I was impressed with Barnes' last outing at 15.
Yes this is test rugby and yes there are probably a few I would have selected at 15 other than him. Folau being one of them.
I don't think Barnes will dissappoint though.
Ou Maaik, if you managed to buy both starting hookers then well done to you! I tried very hard to even get one of them into my team but I couldn't get it right no matter how much I played with the numbers. I'll be interested to see your team after the round locks!
I got 43,000 left and I need a centre. LOL
I'm screwed.
can anyone tell me what would happenif i leave a position blank??? would the rest of my points from my other players still be registered, or would my team bnull and void???
Sasuke, your team will be null and void if you have any unfilled positions.
Ou Maaik, I see now how you managed to to get the starting hookers into your team. That might prove to be a very smart move sticking in cheapo Waratah locks. I've put my team up.
so sad but i see that side getting beaten. barnes at fullback is scarily bad move by deans and o'connor at 10 is a big gamble. the best 10 in australia has been toomua for all the season. but its even worse then that. the lions will probably be stronger up front and better drilled. so much of what deans is doing relys on individual brilliance they cant construct anything. they've gone over 700 first phase possessions without one backline move being made! thats not aussie rugby at all. i hope that the wallabies pull this one off somehow ut i just cant see it happening.
Is this the weekend the Mighty ... The Awesome ... Giants rise to the challenge??
Let's hold thumbs and cheer them on.
Where is Tuilagi and Roberts?
Overall the wallabies squad is good enough, Its unfortunate Jesse Mogg is not at fullback and Higginbotham is not included. Folau is great at the high ball so a few cross kicks to the wing wouldn't be a bad idea, but they need to control the game well and not lose possession. Tuilagi and Roberts is not starting? Without them it can only get worse for the Lions, that mid combo would be a threat. I'll go for Wallabies like i always do when Wallabies or ABs verse NH teams. Aus by 10+
