Port Elizabeth - Skipper Michael Hooper returns as Australia made four changes for their Rugby Championship clash with South Africa in Port Elizabeth on Saturday.

WATCH: Springboks to honour Nelson Mandela in Port Elizabeth

The flank was a late injury-related withdrawal from the Wallabies team beaten 23-19 at home by Argentina two weeks ago - their third loss in four Championship Tests this season.

Hooper takes over the captaincy and loose forward roles of David Pocock, who switches to number eight in place of injured Pete Samu.

In another back-row change, Ned Hanigan comes in on the other flank for Lukhan Tui, who did not travel after an ugly spat with a supporter after the Gold Coast beating by the Pumas.

Tui requested a break from international rugby following the recent death of his stepfather and the altercation with a spectator, who pushed a sister of the Wallaby after the Test.

Lock Adam Coleman replaces Rory Arnold and tighthead prop Taniela Tupou will make his run-on debut with Allan Alaalatoa dropping to the bench.

Scott Sio is set to win his 50th cap on the opposite side of the front row for the Test at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in the coastal city.

Coach Michael Cheika kept faith with flyhalf Kurtley Beale and scrum-half Will Genia amid media calls for playmaker Bernard Foley to start instead of being on the bench.

Australia beat South Africa 23-18 in Brisbane this month, but lie last in the Championship standings with only five points from a possible 20.

Trophy-holders and world champions New Zealand have 16 points, South Africa 10 and Argentina eight with two rounds to go in the southern hemisphere tournament.

Tradition is against the Wallabies this weekend as they have drawn one and lost four of five Championship matches in the republic.

In fact, Australia haven’t tasted victory in South Africa since 2011, but did earn a draw in the country last year, when the sides fought to a 27-all stalemate in Bloemfontein.

Saturday’s clash will be the first meeting between the two sides in Port Elizabeth since 1963, when South Africa won 22-6.

Teams:

South Africa

15 Willie le Roux, 14 Cheslin Kolbe, 13 Jesse Kriel, 12 Andre Esterhuizen, 11 Aphiwe Dyantyi, 10 Handre Pollard, 9 Faf de Klerk, 8 Sikhumbuzo Notshe, 7 Pieter-Steph du Toit, Siya Kolisi (captain), 5 Franco Mostert, 4 Eben Etzebeth, 3 Frans Malherbe, 2 Malcolm Marx, 1 Tendai Mtawarira

Australia

15 Dane Haylett-Petty, 14 Israel Folau, 13 Reece Hodge, 12 Matt Toomua, 11 Marika Koroibete, 10 Kurtley Beale, 9 Will Genia, 8 David Pocock, 7 Michael Hooper (captain), 6 Ned Hanigan, 5 Izack Rodda, 4 Adam Coleman, 3 Taniela Tupou, 2 Tatafu Polota-Nau, 1 Scott Sio

The biggest concern for the Boks is the backrow.Has anyone in the Bok back row ever won a turnover in a key match?
With Pocock and Hooper in the backrow, things could get painful at the breakdown for the Boks.

Of our forwards, the main carriers are going to be Duane, Eben and Beast. In the backs, Pollard, Esterhuizen and Kriel. We support those carriers in numbers. Kolisi has his moments, but is too often quiet. He's often paired with Kriel or out a little wider. I'm. Sure about Notshe. I've only seen the little he played against England. We could really miss Whiteley.

We've got good ruck cleaners. Even in the backs. I might watch then second Irish test to see what they did about Pocock. Though I can't imagine it'd be anything we can't do.

An interesting battle ensues.

Tupou is the strongest prop in Australia = poor Beast is going to struggle  against him.

Beast can squat over 320kg. Who is he to be afraid ? Is there a Bok you don't hate? Or should I say, any good Bok.

I think Clever Mike has malfunctioned. He believes himself to be one oft those officers fro Logan's Run. Anyone over 30 must be eliminated.

Nonsense AO

There is not a single player I hate -  I leave player hatred entirely to you, Mozart and Pakie.    When I criticize players it is normally for proven poor performance - nothing else,

I just do think that Beast was not really good enough in most of the RC tests,   I would have preferred that Kitshoff starts and Beast be n the bench.

Have you not been burned enough? Shall I quote more of your comments on past players? Or shall I just repost your personal attack on Mr Cuntfield again?

You could at least try to maintain the appearance of honesty Lügnerin.

Mozart

Are you satisfied with the last four tests scrummaging of Beast.   I do not think that there were too much really acceptable scrummaging by Beast - in fact in the RC so far  he was the weak link in scrumming.

The fact that he is a bok great is not an argument - the fact is that it is the  performances in tests that needs to be objectively assessed.   Players not up to standard anymore is the reason why too many Bok greats have destroyed their images because of lack of performance in tests later on in their careers.   One can just hope that is not the case with Beast as well.    He may yet be able to play himself back into form - one can only hop e he does.

Dishonesty is entirely the preserve of Mozart, AO and co.  I for years was told that many people believe that the TRUTH IS A PRECIOUS THING - IT MUST NEVER BE ABUSED BY FREQUENT USAGE.

I am happy to see that Mozart, you and co NEVER abused TRUTH BY FREQUENT USAGE.

Beast has aged very well. He doesn't show any signs of being worn down by time.

Add to that, our strongest scrumming performance has been with and by the Beast. That was when Malherbe was hanging on for dear life!

Just take one issue please - how many scrum penalties were awarded against specific props - that is normally a very reliable indication of the scrumming abilities of players.    Mtawarira leads the way in that,

Review the first Puma test. Beast powered through the Pumas, Malherbe was teetering. However, we did have Steph's scrumming behind Beast, so you may be onto something. There have been questions in the past about the effectiveness of a backline lock at scrum time.

Don't blame Du Toit for the BS scrumming - if there ever was a lock failure in scrumming it was Matfield.   That was reality and not fiction dreamed up by you and Mozart.

How do you see whether a lock fails in scrumming.   Look at his back - if his back arch upwards he is failing.   That is how the poor scrumming was determined in the case of Matfield.    There I no such evidence in the case of Du Toit.

Victor's back didn't arch. Steph has a lack of power. Like an ant trying to push a lorry. You know it's true. We need to avoid this light five from happening again. That's why Rassie moved Steph to flank.

As per normal you did not see what you did not want to see,   Matfield's back did arch upwards in scrumming and that was a real regular observed throughout all tests in 2014 and 2015.

I pointed it out a couple of time and Mozart flipped when I said it.  That was enough to prove it actually happened.

Your reason for Du Toit at flank is utter BS.  You normally do wrIte things on this site which are totally unbelievable, but that takes the cake,    Before any tests were played and knowing we have an adequate lock supply -  Erasmus asked the Stormers to move Du Toit to no 7 and the Lions to do the same with Mostert to see whether these two players can fit in playing at 7.

Du Toit proved to be successful - Mostert not so - and the latter  was moved back to lock quickly,   Erasmus then tried to bring Louw on board and that was a failure as well.   So the obvious solution for Erasmus was to move Du Toit to the no 7 position.

With the lock candidates being very strong but effected by the injury to Lood de Jager - Mostert was retained by Erasmus at lock and Du Toit moved to the vacant number 7 loosie position where he will play as long as the loosie crisis prevail.

When De Jager comes back it is clear that the best  Mostert can hope for is the lock bench position, but there are other candidates as well.   To my mind the bench position will sooner rather than later be given to JD Schickerling.

So think before you write your normal BS.

Off to the bathroom he goes " Sweetie did you know I;m Thor !?"

Not easy - you are an idiot and it is always easy to prove.    Noce quote but an ouitright lie follows:-

"Steph has a lack of power. Like an ant trying to push a lorry. You know it's true. We need to avoid this light five from happening again. That's why Rassie moved Steph to flank/"

Nice try idiot - it never was true what you wrote and let me dearly remind you that Du Toit was one of three SA players to be awarded the Player of the Year trophy this year - an honour he throroughly deserved despite the malignancy by  at least three site members.   And Matfield never got that reward - why did that not happen to Mozart's choice as best SA Player in the Open Era?

Probably because Matfield was a specialized line out jumper and not good enough as a Tight 5 player and a center.

LMAO     .
