Some nice touches without being a decisive factor. His defence is rather poor though. If we consider him a great attacker, he must be classified as a glass can non. Lacks physicality. I have serious reservations about any Bok aspirations. That said, he looks a useful prospect and I think he is in the right union for his attributes.

Mapoe and Coetzee made a tremendous difference when they came on. Powerful in contact and savvy in general play. allowed the Lions to sustain attacks whilst making good ground themselves. Made decisive contributions.

Half 1

01:20 - Shadows Rebels off scrum. Passively pressures kick.

01:37 - Decoy with L12 for cut pass L8 out wide.

02:06 - L11 chases kick, L13 follows, drags Rebel over line for Lion lineout.

06:25 - Lion knock-on. L13 advances up threatening any pass to outside support of R9.

07:21 - Rebel Scrum: Flat ball to R10, 3v2. L13 marks up on R10, who has R13-R11 outside him. All flat. L13 blocked out of the play by R13 as R10 fakes a pass to him, passes back to R9 who draws L14 and sends R11 away for the try.

09:55 - Guards ruck.

14:28 - Ruck clean on R10.

14:42 - Catches ball with defender. Immediately goes to ground.

22:48 - Second phase of Rebel attack off scrum in Lion 22. L13 takes Rebel low, dragged back as he offloads. [TRY]

25:02 - Cross field kick to L14, who pops a pass to L13. He ghosts inside R12 to R13, draws him and sends L14 down the touchline.

26:31 - Cross field kick. L13 fields it, pops a pass inside to L11. Guards subsequent ruck.

26:42 - Guards ruck.

29:01 - Missed tackle on R8, fails with diving chase thereafter. Rebels deep into Lion's 22.

30:25 - Lion Scrum: Lends force for L12 hit-up.

30:48 - Missed tackle for Rebel try which was overturned for knock-on

Half 2

41:50 - Rebel Scrum: In Lion 22. L13 dragged back by R13 for try. [TRY]

43:16 - Grabs R15 around waist. Holds him up. R15 eventually advances forward and to ground.

43:46 - First receiver. Steps as he advances into defensive line. Gets behind the tackler

47:17 - Long pass out to L13. He steps hard before darting inside R13. Gains good ground. Quick ball.

47:50 - Guards ruck.

48:00 - Decoy, holds the post and guard. Cut ball, L2 gets outside the third defender breaking for a try. Called back for forward pass.

50:55 - Long miss pass out to L15. He breaks down the touchline, cuts in and offloads to L13. L13 offloads shortly after.

51:34 - L10 long pass out to L11. L11 short to L13. L13 offloads in R13 tackle to L23.

52:33 - Guard ruck.

54:49 - Out wide in Lions 22. Steps inside R13, twists in tackle of R6 to ground.

55:17 - Draws R8 before passing short to L15. L15 grubbers towards tryline. [TRY]

58:30 - Large pool of players, L13 dragged back in the tackle.

62:27 - Rebel forward advances directly into L13, who takes him high. Driven back to ground with carrier.

67:50 - Drifting out, catches R15 around waist from behind. Pulls him to ground.

70:04 - Tracks R23, takes him around chest height brings him to ground, but R23 offloads.

70:14 - First receiver down short side, advances slowly. Taken high by R23. Fights for small gain.

71:03 - Guards ruck.

71:22 - Guards ruck.

Dave

The descriptions of Silly Billy of what happens in games are even worse than the famous Morzoscopes a few years ago.   Totally inaccurate ns total BS totally different as to what happened in fact,

Please note one thing  - I gave a good rating to Simelane in the game the previous week - and the Silly Billy idiot could not take it.   That is why he is addressing his BS to me.  Anyway the brain-deficient idiot did not interest me at all - but I must support you in this re gard.   .

I posted this as we hadn't really seen Sim tested. No more, no less. Every word is as happened. If you want to contest a point, provide your evidence. Saffy and yourself have a long history of being wrong.

Long history of being wrong?   In your twisted mind  maybe - but there is one person on site that is always wrong and never has been right - it is why he is called Silly Billy.    Why is he always wrong?   Because he has pet hate players he always  malign without looking at what happens during matches - and carries on regardless creating imagined situations.

He has learned a lot from Mozart though - especially how to write twisted reports on what happened during matches,

Anyway the brain-deficient idiot did not interest me at all

Yet you can't help but respond to every single thing he writes?

Moz - good old Aug could not be objective and concise if he tried.

So pull that report of his apart, Dave. Show us where he is wrong and why his match reports can't be trusted. Insulting and belittling is the easiest art in the world, any idiot can do it and it takes absolutely no intelligence or investment of effort. It adds no value. It's the way of the lazy man and the coward.

In the real world such accusations would require proof. But on this board we have too many self-righteous, insecure lazy people who are only too happy to drag the contributions of people who actually take time to analyze the game play by play down to the "BS this, idiot that" level, which is apparently where some of you guys feel most comfortable.

Pakie

You are another person who writes on site without regard to what actually happened in games based in the main on  prejudice.

I will take only one point of Silly Billy to illustrate that:-  Remembering he only tried to deal with Simelane:-

"Inside Rebel 22. High pass, attempts tip back to noone. Knock-on"

He said it was a high pass and then followed it by a tip back to "no one"  - which is not what happened at all,   It was indeed  a high pass - virtually impossible to catch by a recipient   surrounded by opposition players,   There is no evidence whatsoever about a tip back to :"noone" - what was clear was that Simelane knocked the ball on onto a Rebels player and when there was no progress with that on the Rebels side a scrum was ordered.

Plain language without a slant will get the situation clear.   You can take virtually every sentence above and the slant is present.     I some cases not only a slant - but a real misrepresentation,    I would not even waste my time by dealing with the rest in more detail/

Finally the following from the team of the week on Planet Rugby:-

"13 Wandisile Simelane (Lions): A tight call between the former age-grade star and opposite number from Saturday’s encounter, Tom English, but Simelane just takes his place in the XV after another fine showing. Has adapted well to Super Rugby following his exploits for the Baby Boks at U20 level and was a constant threat to the visitors’ defence at the weekend, running for 53 metres and making two clean breaks."

Enough said - Silly Billy found to be  stupid again and he ha d the full support of Mozart and Pakie again.  Nothing ever new  on this site,

I guess the missed tackle for a try just after the half doesn't count.......the hype machine in fifth gear.

The only TOW he made as far as I can see, but good on the young man. I've yet to have a proper look at him outside of highlights so can't really comment.

What I like: He is proactive. He communicates well and hasn't shown a tendency to switch off. Some of his off the ball movement was actually quite good, such as the decoy run holding a spaced out post and guard which allowed a cut ball to take Marx outside the last defender. That would have been a try had the 9 mastered the art of the long dart. He is quick and has a good pass by SA standards.

What I don't like: He has no physicality whatsoever. He was dragged around all game and in or around numerous phases where points were scored against his team.

These aren't lies. This isn't a hate campaign. It's just the truth which can be easily verified. He is nowhere near Am or Kriel right now and du Plessis was the better 13 of that round. In fact, he was completely overshadowed by Mapoe. He is not living up to the hype.

This is a joke....the kid was struggling at best. Augie is spot on, he still has a boy's physique....way not ready for Super Rugby.
