It was certainly a mistake. If the Lions won- they would have had an easier draw- and any/all games would be at home.
Even if the Lions do win- it will be down to some fortunate results by opposition

He's rotated the boys well through out the season and I feel he's made some good decisions overall.
Think I'll leave him to continue as he thinks best.
I'm confident we can take the Saders, especially now that Whiteley's back.
I just hope we're prepared for the obvious breakdown battle that's coming.

Idiotic decision. Willingly handing over initiative to the enemy. I hope the Sharks save his arse tomorrow.  Still a fool.

Fact is no SA side plays well in the rain not even the Stormers. Happens too seldom.

Yes, Sadersfan, they played great rugby. It was embarrassing how poor the Sharks were in the second half though.

Well yesterday suggested that the Lions would have beaten the Jaguares and then the Sharks, in spite of the travel.....and would now be looking at two home games to be champions.

They may still get two home games if the Canes fall....otherwise they have to fly to NZ and play a very in form team.

They were in position to win this thing, now they have to rely on the Chiefs or accomplish an epic road win.

Still looks like the wrong decision to me.

Mozart

I  think Ackerman was correct in his assessment.  In the first instance the final stag es of the competition entail three tough matches in a row.

The  competing  teams have had round 17 to content with as well and had to play for position on the final log as well.   He gave his players a rest in-between – ie  against Argentina, which could only be to the benefit of the players themselves knowing full well that they would have a home quarterfinal in any event.

So let look at the Highlanders situation:-

Round  16     -     Played in Argentina

Round 17       -     Chiefs

Quaterfinals  -     Brumbies

The Highlanders must now travel  to SA  again for the semi.   Taking into account their opposition – as well as their travelling schedule,  I would give them nothing more than a 20% chance of beating the Lions.

Ackerman was wise – go match- by match, hopig that the Hurricanes became unstuck in the semi,,
