How many times did the Dutch almost score today....they hit Costa Rica players on the line, they hit goal posts. Arjen  Robben, despite his diver reputation was in fact fouled on virtually every move. But still he came on with iron will....or Arjen will if you prefer. The man was immense.

Congrats to Costa Rica as well, they helped make this the most exciting of the QFs. Anybody who doesn't get this, doesn't love sport.

Dosta Rica was in fact exceptional.  The Dutch and other opponents have had all the big name players with huge experience - the Costa Rica team mainly comprised of rookies that achieved mostly local experience by players.  To keep the Dutch to a penalty shoot out showed how really good they were.
I think that it shows that the Dutch will not make it beyond the semis - the final should be between Argentina and Germany.

South America is as the Freestate in our rugby a great producer of talent. You cannot judge a players quality by his name there. I've had the privilege of watching San Lorenzo many years ago, unknown names, but the quality was better than in Europe at the time. Also, football is not quite like rugby, a 60th placed team can easily give the top 5 a good game.

Michael, that final may happen. Though it wouldn't surprise me if one or both of those sides lose. It so often happens that the strongest performing team makes a no show in the latter stages and gets dumped.

So Oom it appears your prediction of Germany vs Argentina was made after the QFs....and you took the two favoured teams. And surprise there is no evidence of me attacking that prediction. You really should say you were wrong and apologize.
