What a difference a powerback makes to a limp defence.

Man that drew some cheers in our group! What a crushing tackle….what timing!

Frans doesn't possess the raw power of his younger years, but this man can certainly land a wallop. Even now, he is still a serious force. Image Esterhuizen at 12 with Frans at 15 on tour? Frightening.

BS by truckload.    I forgot - that was one of the two penalties Steyn gave away.

Sour old sod….remember when you told us how Steyn’s knees were done in 2014? Of course that was all part of the anti Jake/pro Plum BS you bought from the Sharks rumour mill.

So what miracle happened to Frans’ knees. Tell us about it.

It was pathetic that Frans was penalised for that hit

Frans won the ball in the tackle. Should not have been a penalty.

I'm also looking for some footage of the build-up to Sevu Reece's try. Not sure if it's true but apparently we should have had the throw in to an earlier lineout because of the 50/22 rule but the official missed it.

He was penalized for not releasing the tackled player and not rolling away. The ref did not see that he actually ripped the ball in the tackle and he had the ball. That was an honest mistake by the ref, but the TMO should have helped the ref there, but didn't...it was obvious on the replays.

Yeah Rooi that is when our new waterboy got into trouble as he was trying to point out the 50/22

Rooi, I thought the same about the 50/22 kick and obviously your water boy wasn’t happy!

Jeff Wilson and John Kirwan were talking about it on our commentary in NZ and according to them there’s something in the amended laws about the ball being passed back over the 50m line first which negates Steyn from getting the 50/22 in the Boks favour.

Haven’t checked this out thoroughly but I heard both of them say they were completely unaware of that particular detail.

Yes, looks like the ball was passed back from inside the All Blacks half so the officials got it right. Just read this article where Jacques Nienaber admitted as much.

So in the same way that you can't kick out directly if the ball is passed back into the 22, you also can't go for the 50/22 lineout if the ball was passed back into your half.

The egg drips off the small, green feeler….’the official missed it’..LOL.
