The Cheetahs played the way they should have played all season and the way they played last year - not sure why they have been so piss poor this year.
Some good individual performances from all the Sharks backs, Lewies, Mtembu and Coetzee were good in the forwards. 19 year old Thomas du Toit was very impressive on debut off the bench. For such a big lad, he has some serious pace - this kid has a bright future. Great try by Reinach.
For the Cheetahs, Lood once again stood tall - Willie, Goosen, Coenie, Nkanyane, Strauss and v/Jaarsveld were good.

Opened a can of worms here…the Bulls were the rolling maul fundi’s in the past and this SA’s weapon against the AB’s and they have criticised blaming SANZAR refs for inconsistency in managing the technicalities here.
I think the Cheetahs coach was quite clever here as he took advantage of a diminished Shark side in this that the key players were rested and Jake expected the Cheetahs would use their typical expansive attack…least expected from rolling mauls.
Yes this time Jake was outsmarted and all credit to the Cheetahs coach who is not one of my favourites but sometimes even mediocre coaches get it right.
Although not relevant here but an email that has gone out this week to Super Rugby franchises and to referees has underlined the legality of the maul, and instructed referees to be strict on the proper enforcement of the law.
In other words, referees will keep a particularly keen eye on the obstruction in setting the maul by the attacking side and then also that the defensive side drives through the middle to get to the ball carrier and does not “swim up the side” of the maul.
Take it you missed Marcel destroying the Stormers loosehead then? Coenie had a good game against the Sharks at tighthead.....the only time the Cheetahs scrum failed, was at the end when Cayleb Oosthuizen replaced Nkanyane at loosehead.......bet you missed that to?
Sure....but what about Steenkamp when he retired the hairy Welshman....who was behind him.....Matfield....oops.
And by the way if the Bulls took two tightheads off the Cheetahs that was a miracle. M ost people not in your parallel universe would have said the Bools were playing the Stormers.
