This weekend we saw a few games that ended up being a blow out games and many seats vacant when it comes to trying to draw in crowds. Howry, it now seems that fans are the ones that suffers. Many games go by with hardly a contest. For me the game of the weekend was the Sharks against Saracens. Both teams fielded their strongest teams and the game was in the balance until the very end. Not the best conditions, many handling errors but it was really gripping and engaging.

Yet. So many other teams send weak teams for the away games.

European rugby has a massive problem in that the fan base is limited and they are trying to milk it with as many games as they can squeeze in.

Why?

What was the point of the Stormers La Rochelle game when they are sending 19 year olds to play. We have seen so many teams do it'.

I don't think this format works at all. It should be strength Vs strength at all times.

What are your thoughts? Just feel like we are going through the motions

Too much rugby being played, can't have the A-team on all the time. There was another player or ex-player that also criticized the number of teams in these competitions and the number of nothing games, I just can't remember who it was now. I agree with you, much of it feels like playing rugby for the sake of having x number of games on every weekend even if the stands show that barely anyone gives enough of a shit to go out and see most of it, and in the end there's more dilution as players need to be rested and substandard teams take the field.

Financially the whole game seems to be in trouble.

I must agree thee are way to many matches played in club/farnchise level, Fact is that it includes URC Round 7 to 11 and Rounds 3 and 4 of the Club Championship. How players are expected to play evey week witthout a break of even one weekend is not dvancing rugby as a sport,

Aside from that it effec the teaqm badly - like a protocol to allow for restng of players, t also can lead to injury of tired players,

I think Dave would disagree, but it think it is simply too much rugby. I wish all rugby would Adopt the Japanese model. They have a slide league round and then they have a knock out cup afterwards.

I almost believe that the champions cup should run uninterrupted. It should be in a better format and none of these crazy pools and round of 16, quarters, Semi and final. I don't mind the B league cup, but do we really need when it is just more travel and one off games that don't build towards anything.

Rugby is about building momentum, getting teams to play the best they can. The sharks are now starting to look better with the boks getting use to their structure, but for some reason May seems to be the month in which all finals are played in.

They should finish the league, have the draw and then play the cup. Rugby needs a makeover
