I thought overal it wasn't that bad. The scrums baffled me though. I'm n expert on scrumming, but to me it looked clearly like the Brumbies were engaging too early nearly every time and getting away with it! In the end they got out of jail. Brussow looked very good though, we'll need that for the rest of the tour.

Keith has done so well that he is one of the small band of full time referees around the world, keen enough to give up his career as a solicitor to make refereeing his full-time occupation. When his refereeing days are over, he intends to move back in legal practice.

Before SANZAR went anywhere with policing the breakdown the first thing they had to do was to ensure that their referees had a clear understanding of the rules and application. Watching these guys is like watching a lottery being drawn. Our game sadly is being made to suffer, it must be hilarious to those who don't follow the game.

Christian Lealiifano kicked an injury-time penalty to give the Brumbies a controversial 24-23 win over the Toyota Cheetahs in their Vodacom Super Rugby game in Canberra on Saturday. The Cheetahs were penalised several times in the last 15 minutes by referee Keith Brown, who took aim at their scrum (Note the scrum issue – and remembe rthe bulle also got pinged) and allowed the Brumbies to claw themselves back from a 23-10 deficit to get the crucial penalty after the hooter. It was a critical juncture, as the Brumbies looked to hit early on the engage on every scrum, with Brown allowing it in full view, and then when the Cheetahs tried to meet it they were heavily penalised. The spate of penalties infuriated the Cheetahs players, who were left to shake their heads at the treatment they received, and allowed the Brumbies to steal a win they hardly deserved in the game. To give you an example, the Cheetahs conceded just one penalty in the first half, but 10 in the second half, five of those at scrumtime and all in the last five minutes. In the last 25 minutes, as opposed to the one penalty against the home side, the Cheetahs conceded eight. (That about says it all- disgusting stuff once more) While the Brumbies have to be given credit for the comeback, some telling questions need to be asked about the handling of the scrum, which Brown has a lot to answer for.Deafening silence once more from top nobs at SARFU. Who will stand up for our players to ensure the yget a fair deal? Wa bryce Lawrence not enough.
