Wiped Raffa off the court. Those writing off Docs must be wondering now. Hope the delay will not cause him to lose out.

Win the Slam Doks!!

It's a cycle Beeno1 old friend, in time the old must make way for the new.  Djokovic has some advantages - hunger/determination, age and his hight is an advantage as well - you should know.

Personally I think Federer is on the wrong end of the Bell-curve and Nadal is showing signs of stress and strain.  If ever there was a chance for Dj to take him it is now!

I have seldom seen a guy so convinced he is the best and simply refusing to be beaten Lunatic. He has another gear which he finds in times of trouble. Always very calm, never looking stressed and seems to have enormous stamina.

Nadal is only a year or so older but has played a lot of hard games on clay. Nadal is playing very good tennis. However he is matched even on clay by Doks. Doks with his double fisted back hand and extra hight deals with Nadal's top spin. As the commentators mentioned the heavier conditions suited Doks as Nadals topspin was not as effective. Unlike Feds when Nadal plays onto the Doks backhand he gets no change out of him at all. Doks has a brilliant backhand.

Nadal is also matched in terms of movement around the court. Doks has a better serve. Fact is Nadal's main chance of beating Doks is on clay.

Feds may still be in with a chance on grass where the ball does not bounce  s high and where his single hnded backhand is not so vunerable. He was not serving well when he played Doks in the semis and that lost the game for him.

Mens game is in great shape. I hear there is still rain around.

Do not think so.  Have not been on forums before, but have read a lot of forums.  I used to read the sport forumon Super Sport many years ago but that was just gone oneday.  Then read here, there and everywhere.

I do not post much because the abuse by some cowboys and politically motivated fools leave me cold.

I was also posting on tha tforum under Beeno.

Look on these websites you have to take the good with the bad and not let it get to you. Retain a sense of humour etc. Hope you hang around here though.

Sorry Beeno and others - as I said beforehand Nadal won the Championships and as a result can be classed as the best clay court player ever.   There is very little difference in the performance level of Nadal and Djokovic and very little in their ages either.   Prior to 2011 the main tennis competition was between the greatest tennis player ever - Roger Federer - and Nadal - but over the last year the competition is between Djokovic and Nadal.    At this stage I think Djokovic has lost his nerve a bit.   That last double fault really was not on - giving nadal a free point when on match point.   Sign of nerves if ever I saw such.

Probably also difficult to maintain a high level of concentration with all the rain breaks etc.  May have been different if the game was played in one go.  Any way - Congratulations to Nadal and all the Nadal supporters..

Mike, Doks tends to start slow so the break  proved fatal. Its really that simple. Nadal was lucky this time as had the game continued yesterday he surely would have lost.

No use crowing Mike because of the vagueries of the weather  - your man was going doooown until lady luck stepped in with the rain. Such is sport but dont draw the wrong conclusions please.

While we're on the subject of Tennis, if you had to pick one player from the modern era who would that be?...mine would be "Pistol" Pete Sampras.

I also liked Sampras ......on the boil he'd have taken all these guys, except on clay. The problem  the Joker had in the first two sets was he lacked depth on his groundies.....not quite hitting out. With all his top, Die Nadal can find huge angles off short balls. The Joker flattened out his drives in the third, what's a bet he played too many half court top spin shots in the fourth.

I rate him better than FedXpress....actually think Roger was a great admirer of Pete and copied his game to some degree. Also think that Pete had a better net court game than Roger and his overhead smash when he became aerial was unique.

Sorry - Mozart and Denny -

You should know better than to use sentiment.   The answer as to the greatest tennis player ever can only be one and that is Federer.  He won more grandslam titles than anyone else ever and he won more Super Series titles - equal this record with Nadal - than Sampras.    Sampras was excellent - but he played in an era when competition was not very strong or top honours.  His only real opposition was Agassi - and would probably have had serious problems if he had to contend with the present era top players.

My votes go as follows:-

Top Clay Court Tennis Player Ever            -                Nadal

Top Male Tennis Player                                -                Federer

Top Player with most beuatiful legs          -                Steffi Graf

Anyone voting against the third top choice must have an eye test done.

Nothing wrong with my eyes mate, sure she had a great pair of legs but that aside I disagree with her as the best female player, Martina Navratilova and Justin Henin are my choices. Stefi had no backhand apart from a slice whereas both Justine and Martina had strong single handed backhands. Steffi also lacked an all court game and rarely attacked the net.

Sorry - Denny, I did not say she was the best female player ever - I said she was a top player with the most beautiful legs.   Dare I add tits as well???!!!   Nothing wrong with your eyes - my friend

I would not get drawn into a discussion on the best female player ever,   It would be a very difficult problem to solve since there are quite a lot of players that could be considered.  Navratilova is definitely one - so is Henin, Seles, Cluysters,  Evert and Graff.  There could be strong arguments about all of them.    In competition with Graff for the most beuatiful legs are the great "Legs and Tits" herself - Sharapova.   However, a lot of the female players on the circuit are Lesbians - and males have no chance with them - so a stick to the lookers like those mentioned - but please do not forget Gabrielle Sabatini as well.

Jirre Mike where are you taking this debate with two old men perving at the girls......Chrissie always presented well which was an attraction in itself and she had nice legs to boot but her game was boring, so also was Seles....I don't like grunters so down goes Sharapova and most of the Europeans and Russians as well. The Williams sisters brought raw power to the game and gave womens tennis a real shakeup but my alltime favourite remains the most talented tiny tot Justine Henin.
