Kirchner, Mvovo, Jean, Morne, Pienaar, Paige, du Preez, Jannie, Brits, Matfield, Louw, Schalk and Alberts are not even the 3rd best in their respective positions. That's 40% of the squad that sells us horribly short.
That is how utterly clueless Meyer is. What a disgrace and insult the man is to Bok rugby. His days are numbered thankfully. We won't get past the quarters with this sad excuse of a squad directed by a clown

This is exactly the same squad you opined on yesterday Dave, are these memory issues being treated?

Its bye-bye WC for the Boks regardless of Vermeulen....the proposed squad above is pathetic

Every pick in the squad, reasons can be given for their selection, even the most controversial ones...Except Coenie

Don't get me wrong, I think he was a quality player before the neck injury and even looked to be coming in to some form when he returned but then he injured that neck again, surely it's a massive risk for not much return?

Why risk Coenie instead of a Kitshoff for instance?

They were looking for somebody who can scrum both sides....but Nyakane does that. A bit puzzling about Coenie..but he has generally been better for he Boks than the Cheetahs.

Coenie is a class act.....was very good in the scrums this year at 3 and his general play is second to none amongst the props.
Is he fit though. If he is he would have been my first prop name on the list along with Kitshoff

A fit Coenie is a no brainer but he's not played much rugby recently. And like Moz says, Trevor scrums both sides reasonably solid.

I guess we'll see, at the very least as dave says he'll give something at the breakdown late on in games if he comes on as a replacment.

Nor has Louw, PSDT, Lood, Alberts, Vermeulen, JP, Jean, Lambie or du Preez played much rugby recently - that's how pathetic Meyer is.

 Dave
I have analyzed the squad elsewhere and it is seriously defective and problematic from, three perspectives, namely -
*   deficient performances over a period of time of experienced players;*   lack of game time due to injuries of players - only the worst cases dealt with;*   the age factor having detrimental effects on performances of players
All three factors indicates a really negative scenario and Meyer's squad development programme has been seriously defective since his appointment as a coach.  You can see my comments on the issue under Mozart's opinion pole item.

It's a pathetic squad picked by a clueless conservative coach.
I just hope we see the back of Meyer post WC

Dave......we could end up with Gold as the national coach.
Just observe the wonders he has performed for Shark rugby.
Ackerman (TVL) or Smith (OFS) are the best coaches around at present.
Oops.

Geez Gold is a complete flop. Ackers is doing a great job but I hear the rugby brains behind the Lions is his assistant Swys de Bruin.
The new Bulls coach looks to be a breath of fresh air.
Not sure about Franco Smith yet.
