What happened to Israel Dagg?
Dagg has been really good at AB level but I agree at s15 level pretty average.
Dagg is a shadow of the man that broke onto the scene a few years back.
I would rate him probably a smidge above Kirchner at this stage in time.
Definitely NOT the best 15 in the world anymore.
Anscombe is streets ahead of him in my opinion ... so is Folau and for that matter ... Halfpenny and O'Connior.
Best fullback in this year's S15 was Charles Piutau . . . by some distance in my never humble opinion!
A mate told me to keep an eye on PIatau pre-season and he was right on the money .
His exposure to test rugby will mature the lad and he'll be better for it come next year's super rugby.
The difference will be tangible.
not enitrely true mike, israel dagg was awesome against the french and the wallabies and once he returned to spXV after the hune test eries, was the best fullback in the comp bar none.
was well below his usual self against the Boks though, and judgment seems to be made about his last performance instead of looking at the picture as a whole.
one average test and 7 great tests still has him as the best fullback in the world IMO and easily in the spXV.
i also think that ben smith was the best fullback in spXV, but ive got no problems with piutau being rated the best, those two were IMO the best 15 period with anscombe not too far behind.
True, Sasuke. I forgot about Ben Smith because these days we think of him as wing but yes, he did start most games at fullback in the S15 and yes, he had another fantastic season.
Players have dips in form , it's not a mystery.
dagg was never the complete player if you brung him into the game he can attack but it ends there. the irishvfullback is the best
He is a bit like Nonu as rehgards his S15 performance vs his ABS games .
