The Bulls was outplaying the Highlanders in line outs and scrums. They were in the Highlanders 22 for long periods - yet they lost the game comprehensively.
He would argue that the problem was with lack of skills in the backline - but there can be no doubt that Potgieter is by miles a better ball handler than Steyn - his favourite selection would ever be.
For me it is clear that his game plan has as much chance of winning games as a snowball has in hell.
Mind you - he is right in respect - Engelbrecht is not an asset - he is a liability in any game. Serfontein, despite the one line break, was poor as well. Furthermore Hougaard is not a wing - he has serious defense problems in that position.
As per normal Maffield called the line out balls to him with the highlanders not contesting the line outs at all. Any driving mauls the Bulls initiated came to nothing. Other than in line outs Matfield made a near to zero contribution.
