The fact is that they have some srious deficiencies this year and it starts with their Props - without Marx they are bad indeed - not one of them is worth selecting for the Springbok team.
Then their locks are sub-standard and so is their loosies - bar Smith and the bench player Schoeman. Mostert is a serious flop as a loosie.
There scrummie is no good - but their worst player by some distance is Jantjies. I think that the opposing teams know he folds under pressure and start crapping sideways before passing the ball - thus neutralizing their whole backline. Poor kicks that represent possession handovers are also regular and his kicking at goal has also taken a dip. The Lions nees a flyhalf badly.
The rest of their backline - other than perhaps Vorster and Combrinck is crap as well.
