Just to switch things up a bit after watching a clip where a prope ran into a gap in the 10 channel and then trying to chip a full back with little success.
Not sure about anyone on here, but I actually played a lot of positions at school, not that I wanted to but just where the coach wanted to use me. I remember joining a school mid year, but the only position they had for me in the first team was prop. Even though I was tall and skinny.
The most fun I had was playing at 10 for a men's club 2nd team. The only down side was that I could never drop kick, no matter how hard I tried. I can kick well out of hand and my place kicking is super accurate, although limited distance.
Two of the positions I hated playing was prop and lock. Especially if some fat bastard never washed or have you head squeezed.
I did play at 8th man for Landsdown road in Dublin which I played most of my junior rugby. Either as an 8 or flanker, but sometimes got shifted to lock because someone was whining.
I ended up shifting to inside centre for Landsdown because of my size and being able to crash ball. I actually enjoyed moving from the pack to centre. Got more space to run, but enjoyed playing 10 the most. Got to setup plays and run the ball.
The problem I had was the coaches mentality in South Africa. If you are big or tall then you should be a forward. I was taller then most boys at school, so even though I was the fastest in the atheletics team, some dumb rugby coach that just looked at me and said lock.
Yeah, so I'm curious to find out which positions you played, which you enjoyed and which you hated the most
