As Mozart pointed out some time ago, we do miss Flip Flop there at 5, I personally am not convinced about De Jager's performance; except for the June tests. He'll probably win a few of us over as he grows in the team, but right now, I'll seat back a bit and watch .

Same here Ntanga. On that list it's only Lood i have reservations about. And maybe Basson or Mvovo for Hendricks. Other than that splitting of hairs i go with that team.
Lood's face makes me laugh. Looks like the gentle giant whose mom fed him Nesquick with a straw though the school fence at break time hehe.
Hell yeah, Reinach - Pollard. That's wet dream territory right there.

"What should they look like " hmm.. big and green except for Habana and Le Roux ?

Come now Mike.
First of all, is this the team you'd select ... or is this merely selecting from the boys already down under?
We both know Jannie shouldn't be there and slotting Lood in at 5 is silly. I would rather keep Matfield at 5. At least he knows how to secure our own ball and could possibly pinch the oppositions ball from time to time. Lood is clueless. He should be sent to Robin Island and forced to 30 years hard labour.
I would also be tempted to play Duane at 7 and start Whitely at 8.
I would definitely start with Reinach and Pollard.
I liked Serfontein at 13. Would keep him there and play De Allende at 12.
I don't like Hendricks. Would replace him in an instant with Mvovo.
Obviously my team would look completely different if I could select from all the talent we have back home.

Had tos tick what is in NZ - could not go our of it. I like Lood though - when he tackles somebody the guy stay tackled backwards - a very strong ball carrier - which Matfield is not - and he can play a role in rolling mauls - which Matfield can't do either.
F or me our centers - with the exception of DE Allende - showed no penetration in attack at all and I think he showed stay in 13 - both Serfonetien and De Villiers are essentially 12's.

Mike,All you have to do is leave Jan where he is, De Allende on the bench. We have nothing to lose in going with this lineup. Test the half pairing against the best, Pollard's distribution can get our centre pairing moving for once. Let's see what Jan can do with the ball in hand.
I think the tight 5 will be fine, just a few more slaps in the shed to bring out the mongrel and compete with determination. Back row is strong and we need Marcel to continue his outstanding form.

Only an unthinking idiot quote other peoples opinions without reflecting on wehther they are really accurate. However, Reinach cannot be worse than Pienaar has been in the tests thus far.
Just as a reminder - Morne did on Saturday with that fouled up penalty line kick something for which he has become notorious - it happened so frequintly in the past year - it really is incredible. Just go back to the Eden Park test last year - he made the same mistake twice in that test alone and the AB's scored two tries as a result.

Saffex,I wouldn't have Jean there either BUT that's not going to happen. Hougaard for me has had his chance and just isn't rising to the level required, but would prefer to see him ahead of Pinaar.

Unfortunatelky there is no mongrel in Matfield - he is just an underweight, tired old man. To have a 106 kgs lock in the present rugby environment is just not on. Matfield is weak in scrums and mauls - and he gets pushed out of the way with ease by all and sundry. The tackles he made can at best be described as weak adn unproductive. To add to all that he is not capable of carrying balls anymore.
We exchanged all our Tight 5 advantages for a player that may catch 5 line out balls in any match - so like is said in comic strips - "We wuz robbed".

Hougaard has been fine this year. Play to his strengths, give him the freedom to attack and cut out the aimless kicking

Well I guess if Mike wants Matfield to replace the halfback pairing (as he mentioned in the no 3 world rankings thread), we'll need two Pollards from Dave to make the numbers balance again.

I am sure Dave means Lambie on the bench
Ands the ebst that can be done with matfield is sent him to a retirement home - he is not up to standard anymore.

Hah just another Sapp team gone wrong. Plum that quote of Gavin Rich reflected on Reinach's flop in the Highlanders match this year and only referenced his play in other finals eg 2012.

Ididocy supreme - Reinach di very well in Super 15 thisyear and he did a lot of vey good work - but you have to find an opinion piece that indicates otherwise. So Rich is now the top writer - when he criticized players you like he is the bottom of the pile. Remember w at he said about Frnsi and how you screamed murder then?
You have no ideas of your own about players and performances - end of story.
