Where do the great players come from.....Pamplona?

There is a view punted by otherwise rational human beings like Aristo Cat......that the Bools are the real deal. They are a franchise, like the Green Bay packers, with fanatical local support. But do they draw their players locally?

Well the mouthing off of Johan Sadie as he joined the Bools made me wonder. So I checked the 19 Bok players who got on the field against Oz in the QF.

Six of the players came from the Bools, but only four from Pamplona. The same number as came from the Paarl Gym. And in total  WP also contributed six players.  Four of the remaining came from Bloem, two from the TVL.....and a paltry one from the great rugby nurseries in Natal.

But more to the point. Of the six Bools schooled players, only Smit and Alberts have left.  Three of the four Bloem players have left, and three of the four Stormers schooled players ....Steenkamp, Hougaard and JP have left.

Turn this around and the Stormers had two imports Habana and Fury. The Sharks had five and the Bools had three.

A balance of trade picture emerges with the Sharks as a strong net importer. And the Bools as a marginal net importer. WP is a marginal net exporter and the poor Cheetahs gained no players while yielding three of their four home grown Boks.

In the light of all this Bloemfontein has a strong claim as the majory nursery of Bok rugby, along with Paarl Gym. It would be so sadly ironical if the Kings whose schools seemingly provide nothing should supplant the Cheetahs who provide so much.

That's what I said on Keo in one of their articles utterly savaging both the Lions and the Cheetahs. The collateral damage to Bok rugby would be enormous! Both these sides remain highly competitive at Super rugby level anyway. I have already listed the Lions exploits under Eloff and since his term (they are still the only SA side to beat the Saders away from home!). It is so incredibly short sighted. how can it be possible that these fools get employed in these positions?
 

• They make promises to the Kings of a guaranteed place in the Super XV but fail to consider or acknowledge the already existing contracts in place for the actual competition and the many sponsors involved.
• They then palm off the issue to the unions to sort out with no exist strategy in place.
• There has been absolutely no consideration of the side-effects knocking out one of our unions would have on South African rugby overall.

It's insanity! All this for a team that in all it's incarnations have lost every game? This against schoolboys as well as our Super and/or Currie Cup sides? Who have produced next to nothing as well. Things like this make me despise South Africa with great intensity.

Dr Moz you mention only Boks but how about the rest!! Lets face it the WP and Free State keep the ship afloat!

Oh please windpomp if you took all the bulle imports would you have more than one or two players born and bred up there. Last year I did the excecise and game up with one or two I believe.

I actually do fear for th bulle should other unions get their finances right and halt thedrain of players to the bulle.

Lions are also full of imports. The following players were all born or schooled in KZN :

Warren Whitely, Pat Cilliers, Doppies Le Grange, Waylon murray,Michael Rhodes.

They now also have the Cronje twins.

Sorry um shark but these are very recent developments . For years the sharks ransacked lions talent  bulle and of course the Cheetahas.

Professionalism benefited the sharks enormously. before money enntered the equation rugby players would not play fo rthe home provinces to a far grea ter degree. Now they go where the money is.

WP is badly managed finacially and hence our woes for some time till Rassie came and righted the ship against significant odds.

Listen dumbass, I know Habana came from the Lions. That is not the point. You are ducking and diving as usual. The point is that we have a pot........... kettle........... black situation here. You started off by implying that the Stormers are squeaky clean as far as "imports" are concerned. In this day and age, one would surely have thought that the ideas of imports is outdated in any case. The fact is that your bunch down there in the shade of your beloved piece of granite is as much an importer of talent as any of the other franchises/unions, including the Cheetahs with their bitching and moaning about players being robbed off them. Ask yourself the question: "Why are players moving?" More specific: "why have so many left your bunch down there".

If I started doing the "where were they born"- exercise you might even loose a few more.

Beeno also talking kak as usual. One or two players born in Bulls . Kak man. I challange you to check how many of the 2011 Bulls were not born "up there", and then come back here and give us the results of your "research". Remember that you said one or two. Let's see if you have the balls to do that.

Since when do you dish out orders ou Bitterbal. It was you who started the kak. Let me highlight to you what I responded to. I never disputed that the entire Bulls taem was not born and bred in Pretoria. You are the dumbass who said that WP is a nett exporter of players. This is what you said:

You obviously chose to use the word "net" to caver your ass, but we all know what you were trying to say. Having said that, this is the first season in a very long time that the Bulls have had many "imports". Interestingly, last year, and the year before you were silent about this issue desoite the fact that it was discussed on numerous occasions. I cannot remember you even taking aprt in the discussions at all.
