I was reading Redschild's tearful little whine about refs lower down the page and - at the risk of blubbering crybabies like Baboon-ou and Sharktwat whimpering about me being an All Black supporter again - I have to say I find the responses of South African posters on that thread really embarrassing. The Aussies I can understand but what's happened to the real Springbok supporters? Have they all been replaced overnight by snot-nosed and tearful little crybabies?
First off, contrary to what known idiots like Baboon-ou and Sharktwat would have you believe, I am a passionate Springbok supporter . . . yes, "passionate" is the word I'd use! I'm a far more passionate Springbok supporter than the simpering little drips on all the ref-bashing or "cheating ABs" threads. The likes of Teaspoon and Bugganut seem to have joined the ever-increasing chorus of Spri . . . sorry, I can't actually bring myself to use the words "Springbok supporters" to describe these pathetic little snivellers . . . let's just call them excuse-making pretend-rugby-fans for now . . . who don't have the vaguest idea of the long, proud and fiercely contested rivalry between the Springboks and the All Blacks that has been going on for nearly a century now.
What must the Kiwis think of this new breed of disrespectful "Springbok supporter" who is always stamping his weak-arsed little foot in self-righteous indignation, whose eyes are always welling up with tears of self pity and whose lower lip is permanently quivering not only when the Bokke lose a game, but even lately when the All Blacks win?
Springbok players and fans from the past must be turning in their graves as they listen to these snivelling little mincers droning on and on about the naughty refs who always favour the opposition, the horrid IRB officials who conspire against us and - most of all - the beastly and nasty old All Blacks who are always cheating. The only Springbok or All Black supporters who have a legitimate gripe about reffing are the unfortunate New Zealanders back in 1976 who had to watch Gert Bezuidenhout rob them in a display of home-town reffing that caused the IRB to adopt neutral referees. Most rugby followers can grudgingly acknowledge that refereeing mistakes do happen but also that they've been evenly distributed over the years since neutral refs were adopted . . . but this new phenomenon of bleating about other nations cheating is just too pathetic for words.
Where are the real Springbok supporters? Where are the rugby lovers who still respect the "manne in die swart truie" and who have the grace (and the balls) to acknowledge that the All Blacks have simply been better than us since isolation? Those are the kind of supporters the Springboks need if they're going to conquer the mighty All Blacks and take their rightful place at the top of world rugby . . . not these bleating little sissy-boys with their weak little victim-mentalities and their pathetic excuses.
If we're going to collectively bury our heads in the sand and pretend that every single Super 15 or Rugby Championship defeat is because the New Zealanders cheat or if we're going to burst into tears and whine about conspiracy theories every time a ref makes a wrong decision that goes against us (while we shut up about the 50% of decisions that do go our way) then we're going to slip further and further behind and we're never going to set the record straight.
Man up for goodness sake! Rugby is a game for tough men who understand things like honour and sportsmanship . . . not for excuse-making little crybabies like the majority of blubbering South African posters on this message board.
It's a disgrace! No wonder the Kiwi posters are laughing at us. Have some flipping self-respect and stop behaving like a bunch of crybabies!
