Where is Saffex - I am missing the guy

I was looking forward to his description of the sterling display of Francois Steyn and the debate between Mozart and myself re the Barrett and Lambie tries.

Mozart also has gone quiet - because he could not possibly have won that argument - quietness and some non-related rugby postings and one joke is all that came forth over the last 24 hours.

The Board is really dull without those two - hope they are fine and just getting to the stage where they can renew battle - each going all-out to protect and enhance the interests of their favoured players without any regard to actual performances.  That rea lly is the beauty of it.   

As Moz correctly pointed out, Frans had a good first game back, loved his old fashion bashing of one of the players, when he went low to bash him out of the way, it reminded me of the Mordt days. He also put in one massive hit.

Frans had a damn fine outing.

Having had a good game?  Are you by any chance blind or just prejudiced.  I watched the guy closely the whole time and he did the minimum.  Why do you think he was replaced then - if he was so good?

 MIke, to be fair, Steyn had no worse a game than a guy like Sadie whom has the whole season under his belt.

I think you will find that very rarely will a player get the full 80mins first game back from a lengthy lay off. Frans was out for a good 5 to 6 months. The fact that they started the bloke and didnt ease him back from the bench ala Schalk Burger with 10 mins here or there is testament to his ability and what the coaches think of him. Brendan Venter and Sean Everitt are no fools boy and they would not take a massive punt in a game this important. He came straight back to start in a final. No easing back in for the guy, he is tossed straight into the thick of it and could never have been match fit yet he still never let his team down at all.

Fransie must start this week. He has 55 mins under his belt now. He will be better for it.

Really gentleman - you expect extremely little from a player if you say he had a reasonable game.   Sure it was reasonable if you take into account it was his comeback game from a long injury break.

However, even under such conditions you do expect something to see whether he has in fact improve some negative elements of his game  - like his lack of speed.   I watched the guy carefully and although he made some tackles and try top carry the ball twice - he really showed very little.      He was still very slow when carrying the ball.

What he did survive was a real bone-crushing tackle from Labuschagne - the fact that he got up after that one and continuing with the game - showed he is  physically OK - but I want to see more.

It was indeed a bone crushing tackle that one - not the powder-puff stuff Mozart calls bone crushing tackles.
