My picks would be in order of merit:-

1   Duhan van der Merwe

2   Juarno Augustus

3   JD Schicherling

Which new caps would you like to see in the squad?

I haven't followed these players enough, but what I saw in the video of Duhan, and what I watched later, was very good. I think he'd be an excellent prospect for a NH tour.

Maaik, I've only seen Augustus in one match.  (Didn't get to watch much CC.)

Although I liked what I saw, it might be too soon for him.

Ou Maaik, I heard big things about Juarno Augustus before the Super Rugby season and was hoping to see him in action but he got injured and never played a minute of Super Rugby as far as I know.
I'll be watching him on Saturday. Hope he's as good as they say he is.

He mostly played Under 21 rugby when not injured - was kept out of the Stormers Super Rugby team by Carr.

Rumours are that there will be two "bolters" in the Bok squad, Sergeal Petersen and JD Schickerling.
Not sure if we need another tiny winger and while Schickerling seems a decent player, we already have so many locks to choose from.
Not the two I would have chosen, but still . . .

Van der Merwe is anything bar tiny.  He is 6'4" (1.92 meters) - weighing 100 kgs) - so I differ from you on that score.

The latest development is that Rassie called up Mapoe to replace AM on the squad.   I do not think Am would remain in the squad to play only in the later two matches in the EOYT test series.

I think the squad will ultimately include a few NH club players and hope if it does it will not include the failed Francois Louw - despite all the false support story-telling by Mozart and AO.   Fact is I do not think he will be back.

So the three NH players I would like to see in the squad would be -

*   Duhan van der Merwe;

*   Jan Serfontein; and

*   Marcell Coetzee.

Have any of you been seen Ruan Ackerman play lately? We are a little light in the loose forward department, and he looked to be a great talent when he was at the Lions. How has he been performing since his move up North?

bluebok, if we're light in the loose forward department it's the #6 jersey, not the #7 or #8 position that Ruan Ackerman plays.

I'm also not sure how Ackerman is performing but even if he's playing well, would you pick him ahead of Duane Vermeulen, Warren Whiteley, Siya Kolisi, Pieter-Steph du Toit, Jean-Luc du Preez, Dan du Preez or even Hacjivah Diyamani ?

Go back and see your description of the two tries scored in the Dunedin test in 2012 - that was just one of the huge number of falsifications by you.

Mind you  I still enjoyed the one of Nonu driving through  the bench where Goosen was siting at the time.   Who paid for the required  bench repairs?   Admirable thinking by you and very funny indeed!!!!

In all honesty I'd rather there be no new caps given to players for the EOYT, we need to solidify what we have. There are problems at center with no one yet making a statement and then depth issues at scrumhalf and fullback which coincidentally have our two most important players playing in.
I don't like the idea of a jump from CC to test unless a player has with out a doubt played out of his skin. Augustus and Schickerling have played well but I don't think it warrants a place in the Bok squad, they'll have plenty of opportunity to prove themselves in SR next season. This would be my ideal methodology, but Bok rugby follows unique rules and I'd accept Augustus over Notshe as the latter has proven himself lacking at test level.

Shezza

I think there is a very real problem - especially in certain positions - and the reason for the "holes" in the team can be traced back over the last 4 years.   Although some of the problems can be traced back to 2014, the problems got worse under the clueless Coetzee and his selection madness and deficient game plan.

What made the problems worse is the imminent WC in 2019,  Erasmus had to try and see what can be done in the limited number of available tests and determine who is usable and who not.   I would ay he has done as well as could be expected - but the question marks about some positions do remain wide open.  Those include the loosie situation and the center and even outside back situations.   He may have found some ways of strengthening those positions - but the question remains about back-up players.

I think there are only 7 test matches before he WC starts and I do not think Erasmus would favour starting the WC series with total newbies and or players with minimal test experience such as Meyer did in 2015.

Under the circumstances I think that there must be further players identified and fit into the team set-up in the coming EOYT and RC tests next year.

I would definitely wan to see Duhan and maybe Willemse to add extra mongrel in our pack. Our wings are light weight and will get exposed like they were against England at Newlands.

But I agree that I wouldn't give to many caps at this stage

Not seen enough of Augustus, but Dan Du Perez has been impressing me at 8.

Augustus need a decent super rugby campaign under his belt before being considered.

Besides, we have Vermeulen coming back and then we have Whitely at 8. But we do not somebody there that can cary on the baton post world cup

Goosen was indeed run over in Dunedin. In the thread I started which dealt with that test, we had most members telling you to shut up! Remember?

Here are some fabrications: André missed every tackle against Australia, losing the Brisbane test we won in South Africa.

Or Willemse not throwing a intercept try in the first Puma test he didn't but did play in. There are many, many of these instances.

To the topic though. Duhan interests me greatly. A player who can break the defence at any point in the line. We can set him up anywhere and that expands our repertoire greatly. We can combine him with any playmaker or have him working with our pods. I like these steps which take us closer to the ideal of 15 players with such versatility of quality that we can almost forget about the number on their back. We don't produce wings with the attributes Duhan possesses very often.

I will forgive you for lying about the two tries scored by the AB's in the Dunedin test  - but has oy express the hope that in future he make factual statements and not come up with pie-in-the-sky nonsense.
I never said Esterhuizen missed all the tackles - I always stick with statistical facts and not dream up stories like did.   When I am wrong about selections I admit it and apologize.   I never manufacture stories about what happen during games - I leave that entirely to you and Mozart.   As to the Willemse try - it happened in the first Argentine test and I admitted that I did not look at hat test and in fact looked at the second Argentine test only.   That matter was cleared up after discussions on site and I accepoted what Pakie stated,   I am always more worried where bugger-ups affect the test outcomes and the mistake made by Willemse did not have an impact on the end result.
There are far less instances where I made mistakes and admitted I did than there were cases where Mozart and you manipulate4d what happened during matches and actually come up with make-up fibs,   That applies to virtually every player you evaluated and never provide facts to support your statements.
Finally - your comments on the issue of Duhan is very precise and I agree with you in his case.   I would rather see him as another Outside Back player with a possible usage at 13 as well.
I am always despondent about him as a player.   The misuse of the player started years ago.
*    When he was in the Under 20WC squad Theron buggered up badly by using a player most people have ever heard since to start and put Van der Merwe on the bench.
*    When he completed his schooling he was contracted by the Bulls, ie from January 2014.    The Bulls never used him to play in any of their representative teams and should have released him to play for a team that really  knows how to use backline players.
The bugger-ups listed resulted in Van der Merwe disappearing from the local scene.   Sometimes  in 2015 I saw a game for Montpellier where he scored a magic try for that team.  I then checked and found he and a "student" contract with them.   He left Montpellier before the start of the 16-17 NH club season and for a season had a fully-fledged contract with Edinburgh and at the end of that season he went to Glasgow.
The last two season he became one of the best wings in Europe.   I think Rassie - as a student of Rugby -  would have seen what is happening especially in the present season and is likely to have a close look at him.  Would not be surprised if he is in fact in the squad.

No AO

I never dream up nonsense - that I leave entirely to you and Mozart. The joke was really Mozart's statement that the two of you and Pakie sees things happening that no other analyst in the world sees.

So dreaming up things are according to Mozart justified.    You still ahs some way to go to get to his level - but what you come up with is really cloud 9 fairy tales?

Just a question - who paid for the bench chair repairs on which Goosen was sitting when Nonu broke through him?

Where and when did I lie?   You are the one who claimed that you and AO - supported by Pakie - are expert rugby analysts who see things in games that no other rugby analysts see, giving you the right to come up with any type of evaluation that totally defied logic and make the  impossible acceptable.

That is why you came up what you call a morzoscope you wrote about the Johannesburg test against was exposed as a farce and then you stop writing morzoscopes for the next four years  Now morzoscopes are back and as bad a distortion as they always were.  Why not recover the thread dealing with that Morozscope you came up om the Johannesburg test and we can discuss the issue again.

Personal attacks always follows when the truth hurts - not so Mozart?

Unfortunately you did.   When challenged why nobody bar you ever claimed that De Allende caused the try scored by Barrett in the WC semi  you came up with that gem.   Go back to that thread and change the wording and then come back to disprove what I wrote - I did not grab it from thin air.

You always when cornered has an escape mechanism - but then those mechanisms always end up being pear-shaped.

By the way - i f you want to keep repeating my surname on site - at least spell it correctly.   I wonder whether that kind of behavior on site is acceptable in an event?

Here's how I see it. There is game film. Anyone can use the resource to evaluate any aspect of the game. In the end, whatever is consistent with said film is the only thing that matters. I don't care about a person's credentials, only the film itself. I have repeatedly challenged any who disagree with me to cite any evidence any the footage of any game(s) being discussed. You can call me any name under the sun, the film remains. You can claim whatever character flaw you want, be it real or perceived, the film remains. Until you start backing up your big mouth, you are merely dancing around the issue. The fact that you hide away from film would lead any reasonable person to believe that you are either lying, ignorant or both. We've backed our words up often enough, how about you? Save your personal attacks for when you've cully gotten some kind of upper hand in any discussion. Something I assure will never happen.

Fine - but interpretation must be influenced by what is physically possible and what is not.   What Mozart and you came up was a physically impossible interpretation and even mathematically impossible,

You obviously have to cover up your own story - which is on par with how you describe the first AB try in the Dunedin test in  2012/.  Still have not answered the question - was the bench chair Goosen was sitting on damaged when Nonu ran through the chair in the scoring of the first try or did he jumped over the chair?

Better still  I challenged Mozart to get the thread back - but in the case of the relevant try I made it impossible for you to change the farce you wrote about the try since I copied and pasted  your contribution - making it impossible for you to change it.  Mozart has every opportunity to recover the thread and change his contribution on the expert analysis issue, but I doubt whether he would.

Mozart

That has zero to do with what was the posting was about.   You were challenged to produce evidence why you and nobody else in the world ever blamed De Allende for  that try.   That challenge was repeated a number of times and then you came up with the famous claim about how good it was having three analysts on site (you, AO and Pakie)  capable of identifying incidents missed by other rugby analysts world wide.

That was the issue you now claim w as not happening - hence my challenge to you to re-activate the said thread - at the same time giving you an opportunity to change wat you wrote.      ,

Why does Mozart have to provide evidence for why nobody else apparently sees it? If it's found in the game film, that disqualifies any contrary interpretation from being right. What an odd method of obfuscation.

No he has to provide evidence countering what I claimed he did - since he now made a counter-claim.  I have a nasty habit of identifying nonsensical claims on site - so the evidence must be produced to prove I was wrong.   Absence of real evidence is always missing in the wild claims by Mozart and you - so this gives him a chance to produce evidence that I am wrong,  Why not use the opportunity????
