Which side would win
Over 30s with a big margin.
I would love to see this game. SA A vs SA B or green vs gold.
I don't know if you watch the Stormers vs Saarks game, but it was great to see Flab actually turning the screws on Ox. This is now the 2nd SA forward that got one over Ox. Previously it was Gerhard Steenekamp that also managed to get one over on Ox.
For me I have to agree, over 30s probably.
But the fact that above mentioned has played so many games for the boks and won World Cups vs the under 30s just proves the massive gap of experience between SA younger talent. The fact that Rassie hasn't really blooded enough main stay young talent.
He used useless talent like Moerat just wasting caps, doesn't know which 9 and the fact that he used 52 players last year speaks volumes of the fact that he is casting the net too wide.
We need the next generation spine to come through. Who are our Props, Hookers, Locks, Flankers, 9, 10, generals, do we have a core centre combo and who are the wingers and Full Back,
It is hard because we compare them to the current boks. For me we still haven't found a real 9.
Who is our next tight head? This is the corner stone of every team. Neither do we have our leading flanker or 8th man.
We haven't found a Pollard Replacement or an outside back that can really blow the game open.
Talking of spine, what would your spine look like.
You can only pick 5 to 7 players.
Who are the grafters in your pack to support these guys. Pick 5 work horses.
Then have 3 to 5 X factor players that can turn a game on its head.
B the way I a Kitshof at the match on Saturday. He was nt wearing neck brace - which is standard procedre in the case of such operations and it may indicate that the operation was not as serious as once thought it to be/
. .
Ja, but who do you see needs to get caps over the next 3 years. I think next test season should be interesting because we have Italy and Goergia playing in SA with 3 test. Then we kick-off the championship against Australia with 2 home test. Not sure if they will be any competition but they looked really good on their European tour and could be better after their British and Irish lions series.
So we have 6 test to dial in our team before going to NZ. It looks like a very favourable schedule for the boks and can we beat the All Blacks twice in NZ which has never been done in the modern era.
Of the young guns, who do you believe are the main stay guys we should look into. To me, Willemse is an X factor player, he should always be in the 23 but I'm not sure I see him as a 10 or 12, more of a 15, but then Fassi is there. Then we have Moodie and Arendse. All 4 would make up my back 4. Moodie did play well at 13 when given a chance and probably his best position, but he also offers a lot on the wing, but can also play 15.
Then we have Sasha, Rassie backed the kid, but again, he is an X factor player and he also has a problem in not knowing when to sit out of games when he is injured. He did it at the boks, hiding his injuries and has done it 3 times this season at the stormers. Where as Roos took the hint that his body is struggling and went for surgery rather than trying to play every game.
Again, Roos is an X factor player. Hannekom is an X factor player. Grant Williams is an X factor player. These players can really dominate and stand out in a game. But rugby is not an individual sport, you need these guys to be able to play support roles or do the invisible work on the ground.
Rassie opted for Ben Jason Dixon, could be. potential grafter, Louw is another that works tirelessly and so is Nortje. Bit light weight. We have no answer to 4, but maybe we won't have another 4 like Etzebeth.
So for me the following players fit into these buckets that are under 27 and need caps
Spine
- Stenekamp
Grafters (Donkeys)
- Louw
- Nortje
- Grobbies
- Ben Jason Dixon
X Factor Players
- Hannekom
- Roos
- Williams
- Sasha
- Willemse
- Moodie
- Fassi
- Arendse
Uncapped
Julius
Hooker
