We all know that White breached his contract with the brumbies after he declared his previous interest in the Wallaby job and not getting it when McKensie was appointed,

He is after that job again as is evident from the following article in News24:-

"Former Springboks boss Jake White has revealed that he would consider taking over the Wallabies coaching reins if the chance arose.

White is viewed in some circles as a possible replacement for current Wallabies head coach Michael Cheika, who has guided the two-time world champions to five losses in seven Tests in 2018.

Despite being contracted until the end of the 2019 World Cup, Cheika is under pressure to retain his job after the Wallabies' poor results have seen them drop to seventh on the World Rugby rankings.

White, who was the Springboks' coach when they won the 2007 World Cup in France and guided the Brumbies to a runners-up spot in Super Ruby in 2013, said he still has a desire to coach at Test level and would consider the Wallabies job if it became available.

"Obviously, I think that I've always said that coaching one of the top teams in the world is where you get judged," White told ESPN.

"Australia is consistently always in the top teams in the world. I must say that obviously the reason I left [in 2013] was it was very, very well documented that the South African way, or style of play, wasn't the way Australia wanted to go. I'm sure things have changed, but that was the reason."

White, who is currently coaching Toyota Verblitz in Japan's Top League, feels it is "highly unlikely" he would be offered the Wallabies coaching position but he also said "one never knows. Stranger things have happened in rugby".

The 54-year-old was shortlisted to coach Australia when Robbie Deans was fired after the Wallabies suffered a 2-1 series defeat to the British and Irish Lions in Australia in 2013 but Ewen McKenzie was preferred as the New Zealander's successor instead."

There are some negatives in the process and those could be -

*  the way he left the Brumbies through confirmed breach of contract;

*  the fact that he was effectively fired by the Sharks at the end of 2014; and

*  the fact that Montpellier would not extend their 2 year contract with him.

I think there may be a change of coach In Australia - but I think they may go with Larkham rather than White.

Jake White needs a tight five, and Austalia's pack bar the loosies is hopeless. I am not so sure it is a coaching problem  - or if their tight five is just not international standard.

Cheika is infatuated with a game that is the antithesis of Aussie rugby. Just like Ewan before him. His assistants are also problems. The defence coach had a very poor record at Super rugby level, tainting the Waratah's long record of excellence. Larkham has seen the Brumbies attack stutter since taking the helm. If Cheika should stay, then certainly his assistants must go. However, Cheika himself has a vision of Wallaby rugby that simply isn't working. I think he is too arrogant and too involved in his pipedrean to ever grasp reality. His record is now worse than Coetzee, but with more usable pieces.

I’m still searching for something, anything, in this article, proving that White is in the hunt for the Aussie coaching job.

Click bait. I have no don't Jake would take the job, but I genuinely believe Jake doesn't think it's even a remote possibility.

Read the first sentence in the article and I di not include the heading that was quite explicit on the issue.

Once burnt twice shy...Australian Rugby Board would be foolish to employ a man whose integrity is suspect.

He would take it if offered. Cheeky Cheika will try and stick around but if he continues to have poor results Ozzies may cast an eye in their direction. Depends who else is available.

Jake White confirms to the world that he will once again consider breaching his contract- even if there is little to no chance of getting the job....
Great for team spirit to see your coach throw his hat into any ring- even if it is just to get media attention.

“Posted by: sharkbok (7850 posts) Sep 21, 2018, 23:39 Jake White confirms to the world that he will once again consider breaching his contract- even if there is little to no chance of getting the job....“ Show me one single coach who would not publicly confirm that he would consider an offer. Or let me put it this way. I don’t know whether you are self employed or not, but suppose you were and someone would ask you if you would be interested if a vacancy, which would mean a promotion, came up. Would you say no? Especially if it was something that you were really interested in and have publicly declared your interest on many occasions. There is always another angle to this. You have to think like a reporter. This is the scenario. The Aussies aren’t doing too brightly. Your job, as a reporter, is to write sports articles. You need a story and you can smell that the fans are gonna be calling for the coach’s head. Ahah. There could be a story in there. You start wondering who could possibly be interested in taking over. Wait a minute. Didn’t Jake White say on many occasions that he would desperately like to coach a national side again? You pick up the phone and call him. “Hello Jake, this is Pietertjie Pieletjies from the Gatsrand Observer. Tell me Jake, if they should fire Cheika, and they approach you to take over, would you consider it”? Jake says of course he would consider it. Voila he has a story. All he needs to do is to do a few searches on the internet, use his imagination and add some meat. He does that and his editor gives him the red light to run it. Ou Maaikie reads it and adds his own “flesh” to the story by claiming that White is busy hunting for Cheika’s job.

White has been crystal clear he would like to coach at international level......what's wrong with that? Erasmus gave up coaching the Boks to take what he perceived as a better gig, coaching in Cape Town. White is one of the few coaches with the gravitas, skills and track record to do a 12 month turnaround job. And he knows the Aussie game as a former Brumbie coach. I can't think of a better option for the spluttering Aussies.

If I had my own sports team or large company, it would piss me off it the coach/MD I appointed was talking in the media that they are interested in other jobs. A coach or MD is an employee, just like the players are.
If they have a contract for 3 years, I would expect them to not to be talking about other jobs. If they did want to breach their contract I would want to be the first to know.
It devalues the current job he is in, and the brand of who he represents.
Rassie had a clause in his contract when he left- so he actually honoured the agreement of his contract. He exercised his right to take the Springbok coaching/director role.
Alister Coetzee should never have been given the job- as Rassie is much more qualified.

Would a coach/MD like it if his employers were saying that they were interested in other coaches as soon as these other coaches were back in the market?

John Plumtree read in the news that Jake White was going to take over his job at the Sharks, and was furious- and rightly so. He also learnt that Mallett turned down his job before this.
Is the same as Goosen dumping his team, but it is worse if the coach/MD leaves. What is the point of having a contract, if either party can talk about breaching this in the media?
It is the same as John Mitchell leaving his jobs out of the blue. It looks like he is better than them, and damaging to their brand.
The Bulls were angry with England speaking to their coach when he was still in a contract- and complained to the IRB. However, England does not have a contract with the IRB, and there does not appear to be the same guidelines for negotiating with players who are in contracts..

Actually in most business situations when somebody leaves for a clearly more important job, employers accept that as part of the game. You will probably not vest any compensation not covered by a legal right....but the employee is made whole by the new employer. Contracts make things more complex, but are very hard to enforce. Most experienced people realize you can't make somebody work for you. And anybody who hired Jake would have been naive to believe he wouldn't accept a top level international job. It may not be nice, but it's the real world.

Etiquette and context....
If someone is interested in another job, I would want to know about this before I, and the employees, read about it in the media.
I would not necessarily hold this person back from breaching their contract- but I would not want to learn about it in the media.

It is a little different with most employees - who just have to give 30 days notice period.
A coach- and some company directors would sign long-term contracts as a sign of commitment by both parties.
If I had a coach that was talking in the media anytime a good job popped up, I would be happy for them to leave (regardless)- because it is not good for the companies brand, or staff morale.
A leader should be seen as driving things forward, not talking about dumping the whole show for something else at any opportunity.
Imagine the CEO of Google saying that they would be interested in leaving and taking over Microsoft, then 3 months later saying they would like to leave and take over Facebook, then 3 months later telling a reporter they would also be interested in the new CEO job opening at Amazon, etc etc.
The employees would read about this in the media, as would the BOD.The board of directors would probably tell the CEO to FO, regardless of how or where he/she goes. It is undermining confidence in their brand if the CEO is talking about jumping ship in public.  This type of stuff should be done behind closed doors- and only if it is genuine.

Actually I have participated in several CEO appointments and in a few, potential candidates announced publicly their interest or disinterest in the position. In this case Jake was simply affirming something which is in the public domain.....my bet is nobody is shocked. And the fact that he is avaialable puts some pressure on the Aussies....which may help him or quite likely hurt.

This is an amazing contribution by Mozart:-

"Actually in most business situations when somebody leaves for a clearly more important job, employers accept that as part of the game. You will probably not vest any compensation not covered by a legal right....but the employee is made whole by the new employer."

Only a week ago this man went on the attack against Erasmus on the same type of topic and now this!!!!!!!   Has he got any honesty in him at all or is he just writing BS in site,   His prejudiced warps his thinking and one can accept anything bar honesty from him.

Obviously he does not know what contracts of employment implies and that professionals with contracts cannot leave because they got better deals  elsewhere without regard to contractual conditions.   He always brag about his career - yet he does not even knows what basic contractual conditions mean .   Please clear up your constant BS and start making logical contributions.
