It was revealed with the squad announcement that Whiteley requires another six weeks on the sidelines after his groin injury, making it increasingly likely that he may only see service again for the two closing fixtures of the scheduled six -- at home to Australia (Bloemfontein, September 30) and New Zealand (Cape Town, October 7).
..
They need to bite the bullet and appoint a new captain for the Rugby Championship.

The only 2 choices are Etzebth or Kolisi. Kolisi could be the dark horse given he is captain for the Stormers.

Pretty stupid question really.
We all know Etzebeth stood in for Whiteley and we won that test. Why on earth would the selectors now suddenly change their minds?
It'll be Etzebeth. Only a rugby noob would even ask this question.

The fool believes his own bullshit, The specialist report said 6 to 8 weeks absence and that was what the original argument was about, The fool stated that je knows better than medical specialists - how stupid can one be to re-open a discussion about a topic he knows zero about, However, that is nothing new - he knows nothing a bout the game of rugby and he shows it daily on this site.

Well ... Kolisi was earmarked ages ago for the Bok captaincy, so I wouldn't be surprised to see him take it ... or least chalked up as a deputy ... for now.
If Coetzee can leave Combrinck, Janse van Rensburg, Vorster and Kwagga out of the Bok mix then anything is possible.

Just because I think he'll be retained as captain doesn't mean I'm endorsing that call, dumbo.
For the record, I do rate Etzebeth as a player (in the tight phases anyway), I just don't like his embarrassing attempts to always be this hard case enforcer of any team he plays for. I do think the captaincy might help him calm down a bit and set a better example. I sincerely hope so . . . but the real point I'm trying to make here is that just because I think Allister Coetzee will pick Eben as his captain doesn't mean I agree with that call or I endorse it.
Please try to engage at least one of those tiny little brain cells of yours if you feel you have to say anything to me, Baboon-ou. It would help a lot.

Etzebeth comes across as being a "domkrag" type of player, but obviously he is smarter than he comes across. Another thing I have noticed with him, like Schalk Burger, is that his discipline has definitely improved since getting the Bok captaincy earlier this year. And if anything, he is playing better than he was before the June tests. Some players excel with the added responsibility of the captaincy, others fold under the pressure.

Estebeth is going to have to improve his discipline to be an effective captain. He's gotten too off the ball stuff lately,

Etzebeth gets a lot of niggles from other players. I think that he is actually better than Bakkies and more disciplined, but maybe the role of enforcer / thug will go to another player to wind the opposition up and allow him to focus on the game.
He does seem to get better with the responsibility.
