It seems that the cricket reporters and experts think that there are in fact 3 candidates, namely -
* AB de Villiers;
* Amla; and
* Faf du Plessis
They also seem to think that -
* whomsoever is selected - must be captain in all three versions of the game;
* Amla turned down the captaincy of the T20 side when it was offered to him and showed some uncertainties as a candidate and is most likely to be out of contention;
* that if De Villiers is appointed - he should bot be wicjet keeper adn De Kock should fill that role; and
* that a place should be found for Miller in the squad.
A to the captaincy of he ODI aide - Smith gave that up a while ago - when it became clear that he was not meeting performance requirements in that format of the game and he was out of the T20 squad for even longer. What baffled me always was why was the captaincy of the ODI's given to De Villiers and the T20 to Du Plessis. One would have thought it would be De Villiers to captain both.
We would never know beforehand - but I have a suspicion the captaincy will go to Faf du Plessis.
