Jonah swotting players out of his way or just running right over the top of them - iconic moments in rugby history

I feared for that final, James Small was never the greatest defender, but was told to hang on for dear life until help arrived.

Joost made the first ever legitimate tackle on Lomu. Must have been a new experience for Lomu, Japie rubbed his face in the ground, that must have unnerved the big bloke

Years later his kidneys failed due to all the steroids.

They all haled him as a great ... in the mean time the lads high on turbo juice.

Nothing special about him.

Of course we remember it !
I am sorry to say that my team were a disgrace during that WC, seemed to treat the whole thing like a jolly. It was not on at all.
Mike Catt just froze and fell, simple as that. Tried to hang on whilst on the floor. He was never the greatest defender and, let's face it, the rest of the team had hardly covered themselves in glory either. It was only Will that tried to drag that game back from the brink...and seemed to be doing it all by himself in the second half !
I'm afraid they created much of the stupid hype that surrounded Lomu to cover their inadequcies in that match.Thankfully, players like Joost just went in and tackled him ! Showed everyone else how it was done !

Catt lost 8 of his lives .Typical pom relying on someone else to do for them. And a saffa accusing Lomuh of steroid abuse ? Bit rich that is  you know glass houses and stuff. .Nephrotic syndrome in Jonah has feck all to do with it ,

Doesn't change the fact that he destroyed his organs through steroid abuse and then got away with it cause he's a kiwi with the IRB in their pocket. Bought and paid for and so forth.

Lomu could never score a try against the Boks.

A remarkable achievement for the men in Green and Gold.

I have selective memory. I remember Japie Mulder and Joost. I also remember Breyton Paulse, who was fast and smart enough to always run between the passer and Lomu cutting him off from his ball supply.

Also Savea has never scored against the Boks. We just nail these guys. A few hard tackles and they get all quiet!
The classic tackle on Lomoo was when Joost took him low and Os a bit higher. He got truly thumped and that was that!

At least Catt tried to tackle him...Rory Underwood contrived to never get near him. And I remember the Frog fullback in the 99 semi Xavier Garbajosa literally hiding behind other players to avoid Lomu. Joost took him down head on at the full charge, something that scarcely seemed possible at the time .

When Os landed on top of lomooo all that we heard was a loud hissing sound as all the hot air escaped! It was the end of Lomooo versus the Boks. A defining moment.

Guys, please remember the scoreboard when babbling you views. One player can have a big impact on a game but the bottom line is the won/lost record & the ABs racked up a few win when teams paid too much attention to Lomu.
Still his power runs were fantasitic & if he was a Bok player we would be hearing more about it for sure.
