I suspect it's more about getting Frans at 12 and avoiding the liability of the tiny Jordaan at 12. But imagine if Frans got hurt and you had Lambie at 10 and Jordaan at 12. Rugby in Lilli put. Still perhaps they could work a few passing moves below the tacklers.

Jordaan was by far a better 12 this year than Fransie - statistically and otherwise. He did more in the game on Saturday than Fransie did throughout the season playing at 12.
Wherever Steyn plays he is no good - statistics for the season proves that. Jordaan did bloody well when up against Nonu and Crotty of the Crusaders - so what is wrorg with playing him at 12 - he was a damn site better in both attack and defense than Fransie ever was in that position.
You try and find a reason by quoting his size - he is faster and ca cleverer player than Fat Fransie which his wobbly knee is.
I would play Lambie at 10, Jordaan at 12 and Sithole at 13 - and forget about the slow and aimless Steyn. His size is an impediment - not an asset - because he has no way of ever producing anything positive in back line play.
However, White will insist on Fatso at 12 - so the Sharks backline won't be a factor in the game on Saturday. And the Highlanders centers will play the fool again with the two Fatsos - like thy did in their last game against the pair.

Why? He has been better at center than most of the other SA centers - both in attack and defense. . Size means bugger-all if it is not linked to performances.

Honestly, would probably go with Steyn at flyhalf as well although I can see White's reasoning that they would have to win three on a trot so Lambie would likely have to be brought in at some point so why not at home against the weakest opponent they will face in the playoffs if they make it through.
But Steyn has won all their tough games for them at flyhalf - away at the Force, Crusaders, and Blues and then last Saturday against an in-form Stormers team playing at home and the Sharks coming off a brutal loss against the worst defensive team in the Super 15. Remarkable turn around really from one week to the next by the Sharks and Bissie and Frans should rightly get the credit. The whole attitude of the team is different. You can see it on the field.
How anyone can say Swiel played well when his strength is supposed to be his running game and he manages only 6 meters in 6 runs against the porous Cheetahs is beyond me. Jantjies was so much better this past week against the Cheetahs than Swiel was.

Couldn't agree more Matey...Frans and Bismarck were the keys. Sadly some of our fellow posters simply don't get how much damage a hesitant, weak player like Swiel can cause.

Sadly you do not realize how much damage Steyn caused in the game insofar as constructive backline play is concerned. Aimless kicking - poor passing and non-descript in attacking play damaged the chances of the Sharks in all games lost by them and Steyn was the chief culprit in all of those.
Just go and look at his stats at flyhalf to really understand how pathetic he really was. Saffex is right - Steyn is no flyhalf because he is clueless about reading of games and resultant plays which should result for such readings - he has near to zero ball sense.
