Any rugby team needs a flyhalf that can read the game and take positive options. Today the Sharks once again shied that they cannot play a flyhalf who are clueless and consequenlly caused their loss.
Steyn made serious errors that counted against the Sharks and caused them to be under pressure and consequently lose the match. He made the following bugger-ups that can be recorded:-
* He kicked a penalty from the halfway line straight over the dead ball line.
* Two kick-ins went way out of touch
* His kicking game was putrid - normally straight at the recipient and too far ahead to allow for follow-up and pressure being placed on the opposition:
* He handled the ball 38 times and of those he kicked away 17 and carried 19 - he only passed 5 balls and those were when the recipient was under worse pressure than he was.
* His goal kicking was inaccurate and he missed 50% of all attempted kicks.
This kind of performance should convince everyone that whomsoever thought that Steyn should be the Springbok flyhalf - should go and consult his shrink - something seriously is amiss in his top storey.
This guy is an expert in destruction of backline play - and the sooner they realiz e that the better it would be for the Sharks.
