Why indeed. I detect zero anti Sharks sentiment .....anti Cheetahs and anti Lions as well. The Bulls are disliked, but not for themselves, for the game they play. As soon as they produce a backline try, everybody seems to love them. And the Kings are rightly despised as a political construct.

But why the Stormers....one of our leading teams, with a history of attractive rugby. Or is it simply that the Cape is disliked by those who don't live there?

Mozart

I support the Sharks and if the Stormers play any other team than the Sharks I support them.

Why are they unloved?   They used to play attractive rugby - but as from 2011 they played the least attractive rugby of any team in Super 15.   They suffered badly from what I call dead backline syndrome.   The worst player on the field invariably was De Jongh - the worst contributor to the syndrome.

They virtually never produced a real backline move and the poor Habana constantly had to go and look for work - there was no chance of him getting the ball otherwise   Spectators want to watch attractive rugby - not the tripe that the Stormers produced on  constant basis.

Just go and look at the 2012 stats on Super 15 and you will get the message

Each to his own.

I have no issues with the Stormers.

I do however dispise the Bulls ... the way they play the game ... but mostly their fans ... arrogant, loudmouths ...

Not my kind of people.

Sniff, nobody likes the Stompies. It's all so unfair. Boohoohoo!

Waaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahaha!

Moffie,  did it ever occur to you that one of the reasons people might dislike the Stompies is because gigantic arseholes like you, Dense and Baboon-ou support them?

No? Well . . . dry your tears and have a little think about that.

I do not dislike any team or player!  I may have opinions of players and coaches but they are mine and not gospel.  The Stormers are cool but not my team.  The Bulls are, well they are the Bulls.  The Cheetahs are unfortunate because of their coach - a makeshift one he is.  The Sharks are my eam and so are the underdog Kings - People hate them for the management but the players did not chose the manager.

I like rugby, I like South Africa and will shout (like any nation) for my national representatives in any union against foreiners.  Sharks, Kings, Stormers, Cheetahs and the Bulls ..

agreed with CleverMike, the Stormers have allways been my 2nd team that I allways support unless they are playing the Sharks.

For a time when the Stormers team was playing excellant rugby during the era of Bob Skinstad, Breyton Paulse, Montgomery etc when most of the Stormers were boks, I sometimes even found myself supporting the Stormers over the Sharks.

The Stormers were exceptional in 2010, and could have won the SuperX that year. The attack was much better than what it has been for the last 2 years. Not sure what has happened. They are not going to win the tournament until they sort out the attack

"For a time when the Stormers team was playing excellant rugby during the era of Bob Skinstad, Breyton Paulse, Montgomery etc when most of the Stormers were boks, I sometimes even found myself supporting the Stormers over the Sharks."

That was the era of Gary Teichmann, Henry Honiball and Mark Andrews for crying out loud!

Seriously Sharkbok, please logoff immediately, delete your account and create a new persona called "TwatBok" or "WankerBok" or something a bit more suitable than "Sharkbok". You are an utter disgrace to all Sharks fans and I'm quite sure I speak for every Sharks supporter when I ask you to shove your "support" where the sun doesn't shine and rather support the Stompies or the Kings or some crap side deserving of a fair-weather band-waggoner like you.

I always thought you were a bit of a wanker . . . you have now removed any possible doubt. At least change your avatar, for Pete's sake!

Jalapeno this was during a time(about 2 seasons) when the Stormers had a much better team, and it was filled with first choice Springbok backline players. It was some of the most expansive attacking game I have seen in South Africa.

Mark Andrews had retired long before this and Henri Honiball was one of the only backline players to be a first choice for the boks, most of the rest were Stormers players. ( I am talking about a period of one or two seasons!)- Not long. It is mixed feelings not also supporting a team that had allmost a first choice Springbok backline against a more average Sharks backline- at the time. With the SuperXV being an international tournament I support most to all Sa teams, except for the basement dwellers like the Lions

-

Who is your 2nd choice team, when not supporitng the Sharks- the Kings, or is it the Crusaders?

Sharkbok, please don't even bother to address me on this board until you've had the decency to change your handle. I don't want to hear your whiny and pitiful reasons for switching your so-called "allegiance" from one of the all-time great South African rugby teams to a bunch of mincing posers. You disgust me.

Now shut the hell up and take the word "Shark" out of your name. That is all. Begone!

Delusions of grandeur or God complex, same thing really. Sharkbok, that WP team's backline was something to behold. A lot of the old bitterballe will deny it, but 97, 98 and 99 were good years for WP and we played some good games. Nice to see some on here who can look past provincialism (England excluded here) and give credit where its due. The Sharks of the early 90's was also special. Your new lot aren't too shabby either.

Can we please establish exactly which years this stinking verraier TwatBok is talking about?

He talks of a time long after Mark Andrews retired but when Henry Honiball was still playing. Puh-leeze man! Henry (note the spelling TwatBok) Honiball retired in 1999 and Mark Andrews was still playing test matches in 2001. I mean really! It's bad enough this disgusting turncoat switched his allegiance from a truly great and deserving Sharks team (whether he's talking about the late 90s or early 2000s . . . we don't really know) to the overrated WP wannabes but either way, he doesn't even have the vaguest idea about Sharks rugby history.

DbDraad, please take this fickle TwatBok traitor from us and welcome him as a fully fledged Stompies supporter. I bet there are plenty of real Sharks supporters who echo my thoughts.

theres a few reasons why the stormers could be so hated in SA but the three that spring to mind are,,,

1) when even the likes of the lions are playing more attractive rugby then the stormers, how can u blame others from not hating the stormers, especially when they see the attractive rugby that kiwis gourge themselves in week in and week out???
heres a pardoy on a famous saying,,,,,
the stormers play the kind of rugby that only thier fans can love, :oP

2) they are the No1 team and if ur not a stormers supporter to begin with, its human nature for others to want to see them fall, a by product of how everyone loves the underdog.

3) because they smell.

Your nose is too close to your arse. Smell? I suppose the Saders' cloakroom smells like lavender after a game. Real men smell after exercise, but nothing a shower and some Axe can't handle. Ask Dave.

Dave smells just contemplating exercise....Draad c'mon, stop minimising his problem..

As for allegiances I am with Sharkbok. I support the Stormers and have done since the early sixties. But when I saw the mess Watson and Joke van der Merwe made of WP rugby, the only rational thing to hope for was total failure so we could eject these interlopers. And thankfully that's what we got.

I have to laugh at RooiAAS' passionate allegiance though....just a pity he didn't produce that in 2007 and instead predicted Bok RWC failure. And then ran down our win with a , you guessed it, passion.

Well Capone how is supporting the Lions going for you? Wahaha....

After years of being losers they have been discarded.

Well at least you can now support the Kings. Go Luke!!!!

The Sharks and Stormers are both good teams, the Lions and Kings will allways be fighting for last place.

-

Not sure what you mean by "how does it feel to have a new asshole".

Without an arse transplant how would anyone know what this feels like?"Not sure if I understand you on this one.

Have you prevously had an arse transplant?

Yeah … I’ve thrown my hissy fit and feel a little better now … still very disappointed though regarding our exclusion … it’s a bitter pill to swallow.

No matter … have decided I need to support a team in the Super 15 and am giving the Sharks serious consideration as all my favourite players just so happen to be playing for them.

Besides … they have an awesome home strip … best in the competition ... and I've been tempted for awhile now to get me one.

A little slow in the uptake I see. You seriously need me to explain ... ???

Ok ... Jalapeno ripped you a new one ... uh-duh!!!

Get it now???

Hey sharkbok can I lend you a box of tissues. Not being allowed to address ou rooitwit. - end of the world stuff!!

Stormers are a popular team country wide. Granted they played dull although effective rugby for  couple of seasons. We do however expect more flair this year.

Draad alcoholics should not be allowed in the crusties chagerooms a they would be set off again by the fumes/smell.

Kalead fans normally support all SA franchises against foreign sides. I suspect there maybe a problem brewing in this regard in respect of the queens. You ougt to know kalead ou rooitwit is a closet abs and crusaders supporter.

You are all smoking your socks! If anything, everyone but their supporters, hates the Bulls! Seriously, go back and read this thread...or any thread, nobodies second team is the Bulls. And if anything, there are more Stormers supporters here than anything else....with nearly as many Sharks supporters.
