Its not too difficult to explain. They lacked the balanced Beeno approach.
They exaggeratesd the weaknesses of the Bok side, they ignored the weaknesses of the Oz side. They exaggerated the strength of the Oz side and ignored the strengths of the Boks.
Morne was crap. Loosies were plodders. Now granted the loose tri are on the slow side - but not as badly as they claimed. Kircher may not be the greatest full back but si not as they made him out to be. JJ defense is not as bad as they claim. They thought the lineout was useless. Why only they know. They totally ignored the power of this93 kg odd pack - still some 5kg odd lighter than the one i hope would cause havoc for the Stormers this year.
You see oaks genuis coaches like Rassie (who built a pack for the Stormers that would doubtless have ruled the Super 15 bar injuries) and Meyer fully understands you dont win tests with wee Brussouw and lightweight loosies. At the most we can bring in one speedster - Deon Fourie. Meyer understands how effective traditioanl Bok play can be - a brutal forard pack, rock solid defence a great kicking flyhalf and power, speed and flair in the backline.
Another coach who understands Bok rugby is Jake.
So to all the oaks who have been getting it wrong there is always time to realise Meyer is on the right track as Beeno so often told you.
Are we ready to resume our traditional role as world number one and ruler of the wee abs? - well who can doubt the odds are shortening by the day. Realistically there appears every reason to think we can down the abs on their home turf - given a decent ref of course. We shall see. Meyer is putting it together and his next step is to get the right balance in the pack to sort out the ab imposters.
