I'll tell you why. I think it has everything to do with Goosen's injury. It does not seem to make sense to be playing Steyn when he is set to leave SA, but there is no point blooding Lambie or anyone else for the position, when it is obvious, to me anyway, that Goosen is the Future of South Africa at 10. In short, once Goosen returns from injury, Steyn can leave and our no.10 spot will be filled.

Bluebok
It all depends when Goosen will be back to play - I doubt very much whether he will be available for the Championship tests - but he may be back for the EOYT. I think Lambie should be tried out against the Scot and see how he fits into the playing situation of the backline - but that is not going to happen and Steyn will remain for the forthcoming test

Clean, give reasons for your statement! Mine are simple, why would Meyer play Steyn when he could be play Lambie? Steyn is the form 10 at the moment, so from that point of view it is obvious, but for the future it makes no sense....unless Lambie is not Meyer's first choice if Steyn is not around.
If you want to challenge me and call me clueless, prove to me you know more than I do. Your above statement is not helping your cause.

Mike, I think your are probably right about Steyn playing for the next test, but that still indicates for me, that there is no urgency to play Lambie.

Fair enough Rooi, although, it is not as if Lambie ever had a decent run of games at 10 for the Boks. My point remains, there is a reason Lambie is not already starting at 10.

@ Bluebok, Steyn's goal kicking is by far the most consistent in SA at the moment, the Bulls success mainly comes from Steyn's Boot. I agree with you he's isn't our future 10, and as some have already pointed out, he is plagued by his usual aimless territorial kicking.
He's due to leaving SA for France, but so does Habana, Bekker, JP, the list is endless. I think Meyer will play him as long as Steyn is available and in goal kicking form. There is a lot of trust between Meyer and Steyn, just read Meyer's comment on him

Agree, Steyn is currently our best no 10.
But for this weekend I will rotate Steyn with Lambie to see if Lambies wants to grab the no 10 jersey and make it his. When Steyn leaves it will basically be between Goosen and Lambie for no 10 and even a injured Goosen is kicking Lambie's butt!

Goosen is a great prospect for SA, but I can't help feeling that he might be one of those injury prone players e.g Bekker
