Never be in the Springbok team - both of them buggered up badly and Hougaard's service was atrocious. That last kick of Steyn was bullshit - but so was his kicking game most of the time.
Steyn under pressure is not a nice sight to see - he was never really of any value in todays game - aside the kicking at goal - and that was even questionable missing two kicks at goal to start with.
The Bulls props was atrocious as well - but that always was a known fact - and their decision making was at best rubbish too.
Best thing is that it became clear that two players at least is not suitable for Springbok selection. Steyn had a poor game against the Sharks - a very poor one against the Stormers and an extremely poor one today, Whatever they say Lambie could not have been worse than Steyn was.
I repeatedly warned that in the play-off game against the Crusaders last year, Steyn fell apart and then became atrociously poor in the subsequent tests. This year in the last three games in Super 15 - he went from bad to worse. It would be extremely dangerous to take another chance on that one.
Hougaard was part of the reason for the poor performance - his defence was rubbish - especially in the one leading up to the first Brumbies try - he was hesitant as to what to do with the ball - slow service - rolling out on th ground the ball to recipients - dismal kicking - that says it all.
I do not think Hougaard was really up to standard this year at all and t was unlikely that he would be selected at scrummie. Steyn was however, the one player that Meyer put his faith in - I hoe Meyer wakes up and takes note.
