Lets face facts - Mozart was screaming blue murder when Graeme Smith and Kallis departed from the cricket scene and swore we are going to go down without them. The exact opposite happened - we are starting to win matches and series without them.
This type of thing shows that to keep players past their sell-by date - irrespective of how good they have been in the past - is a crazy notion of the retarded. The same notion applies in all codes of sport = don't play players based on their reputation - play them if they perform
Lets face facts - the best move the SA team made was to replace Graeme Smith with Quinton de Kock. It took De Kock 21 matches to make more than 1 000 runs in ODI's. He was a year younger than Kallis was when he did the same and he even did it in fewer games than Viv Richards did it many years ago - the latter took 23 games to reach that target
The only players of SA that featured in that list of top ten players were Kallis and Amla - the latter featured at no 9 on the list.
