Why not play Marx at blindside
It's an interesting idea. Bongi does make it a viable option. Better than Kolisi , that's for sure!
Kolisi is the captain...and will stay the captain.
Kolisi is a figurehead. I don't know how a person can live with that.
Kolisi is the captain...and will stay the captain
I said it a few weeks back that this is where Rassie has painted himself into a corner.
Playing guys out of position is something even coaches like Hansen have come to regret ,Chicago and 2007 RWC spring to mind.
I agree, playing a quality player out of position because he supposedly solves a problem elsewhere can become a problem in itself . However, it is an intriguing possibility in this case. I don't recall another period in Bok history when so many players in so many positions have been switched around. It's very odd.
"Kolisi is a figurehead. I don't know how a person can live with that."
Hahaha have you been to Africa?
Yep, where selfserving fcking politicians take control of everything, even the games we play ........ its like being in a timewarp, Africa circa 1976
So ... you want to weaken our front row with your quota in the hopes that an unproven blindside flank may sort our backrow issues out?
Haaaaaaaahahahaha!!
Why?
Proper selections would easily alleviate the issues we have in our backrow. Don't you know that?
Jaco Kriel should not be an option at 7. He is our best loose forward hands down and will be a massive improvement at 6. There is no comparison.
We should NOT have Flo in the mix ... AT ALL!! He is not and has never been a test standard backrower. He proved that against Japan.
We should NOT have Warren Whiteley in the stating 15. In fact I would prefer he doesn't make the squad at all. We need a physical monster at 8 ... not another Bobby Skinstad type.
AND ... we should NOT have the useless captain and quota that is Kolisi any where near a Bok squad. Hi s skin pigmentation is the only reason he's there. We all know that ... except of course SharkShit! He's a Bok great in his eyes.
Getting rid of those three would open up the back row to new heights.
So ... to answer your question ... NO, definitely not ... stop compromising for the sake of the quota ... don't be so silly ... leave our best player exactly where he is.
ditto..
This type of comment can only come from people with zero real rugby knowledge. I agree with CC about Marx staying were he is, This is no new problem - it became a problem in 2012. The whole loosie selections structure when loosie selection produced of pace-deficient players. There was not a single loosie with the pace and ball sense to get to breakdowns and even if they did why did not know the meaning of the words "ball protection" and "ball recovery".
In this regard much is made of turnovers by for instance Louw,\. He made 13 turnovers in 7 games - ie just under 2 per game. .That is not much better than De Allende - who made 9 turnovers in 5 games, For the rest Louw was a dead loss in all other aspects of loosie requirements already in the 2015 WC - he is no use at present. His limited skills he had imn turnovers he had in 2015 has vanished into thin air too.
Of all the loosies Meyer selected there were only two loosies with reasonable performance abilities and those were Vermeulen and Marcell Coetzzee..
We do not have a loose problem - we continue to have a major loosie selection problem. I would say we have at least 3 no 8's available better than Whiteley - namely Vermeulen, Marcell Coetzee and P-S du Toit,. I have my doubts about Vermeulen making it through to the next WC - but think if Vermeulen goes through to the WC - the other two players can both be considered for the no 7 position - with Coetzee also an option at 6
We have an over-supply of top class locks - I think we have at least Etzebeth, De Jager and Schickerling. So Du Toit is not an essential at lock and he can move to no 7 - even Coetzee can be used either at 7 or 6, Other potential sevens are Kyle Brink, Wiese and the Du Preez brothers.
We gave a problem at 6 - but even here Kriel, Labuscagbne, V an Staden and Coetze are options. Kriel has excellent pace and Labuscgne for years has been the best ball protection and recovery player in SA, as well as Marcell Coetzee.
The constant deficiency about Loosies are based on the -
* fitting in of Kolisi into the back row - he is not up to standard;
* constant pace deficiency;
* the playing of the has-been Louw; and
* the playing of Whiteley - who has pace and ball skills - but not the required physicality.
I doubt whether it would be possible to drop Kolisi - but the other two positions must be solved urgently.
.
Rubbish!!!
You post so much nonsense on here that I suppose it was inevitable that you'd start believing your own horseshit.
Jaco Kriel is our best loosie by some way, and the only option for the openside. He's stronger on his feet than Louw and gains us much needed go forward ... doesn't die with the ball as is the case with your geriatric ... passes well in contact and is by far in better physical condition than your hasbeen.
Throw in his vastly superior work rate and pace, as well as his ability to play the full 80, and what we have here is a true talent vs a wanna hasbeen ... and as you said, he isn't an option for the coming WC. Heaven forbid.
See the difference? Didn't think so!!
In short ... Louw is a loser in comparison.
What's your fascination with losers? Fats Fransie, Morne Steyn, Heyneke Meyer ... ??
I don't believe it!! You actually went ahead and compared Bongi with Marx ... AND ... declared Bongi the better hooker of the two ... !!!
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahaaa!!!
That is absolutely priceless.
Tell you what ... I'm not even going to respond to that bit of "Moffie logic ".
Haaaaaaaaahahahahahahaaa!!

You should know by now that Mozart suffers from both -
* virtually total rugby ignorance' and
* an amazing age mania
He hates younger players - especially those being a threat to the golden oldies he supported. That hatred continues even if the threatened players are klong gone.
To make it look sane - her would post constant self-determined rubbish on site to discredit his per hate players and for that he crowned himself and his faithful supporters as the top analysts in the world of rugby. Most of what he comes up with is total BS. .
So true Mike ... but at times I forget just how far the rot's gone!
Now he has a side kick that matches his ignorance.
Both are self proclaimed rugby gurus.
Cracks me up.
Coetzee never produced under Meyer. Ever. He had a lot of hype in early 2012, but was one of the worst Boks in the England series. In 2014 Meyer turned to him during our injury woes and he struggled against the Pumas. He was one of the reasons why 2014 wasn't as productive as 2013. Louw on the otherhand was a consistent performer under Meyer. You overstated your point about Louw and ended up making a fool of yourself. You were fighting against clips posted by other members, as well as every other item brought into the discussion. You are too blinded by prejudice to acknowledge Louw's actually performances and even wen to far as to lie. You were found out repeatedly and then resorted to insults. Very mature. Now, those of us who are more balanced acknowledged that he needs a big game after his quiet game against Argentina.
Damian? How many turnovers has he conceded in relation to those he has won?
Lood is not a top test lock. Du Toit at 7 is questionable, and will be targeted on Saturday. We'll see if that fares any better than past tests. Duane us of course our best 8. Whiteley has been no pushover in contact however. Show me one contact situation in which he has been dominated. Just one. I agree about Kolisi.
Now, now Herr Drache. If you keep frothing at the mouth we're going to have to make you wear your bib again.
Herr Drache LOL!
AO
Idiot supreme - your assessment of players is a joke,
'
I'm so stupid, yet when I put you on the spot with questions you draw blanks every time. Even funnier is how worked up you become!
Question is ... did anyone produce under Meyer? Anyone at all??
Did Meyer have the necessary skills as a coach to bring the full potential out of a player ... any player ... or did these players actually regress in his presence? Did they come away worse off than when they met this over rated chump?
Look at Lambie. A natural talent ... ruined. How many others were there that fell away under this idiot?
He was stupid enough to insist that the first receiver off 9 be a forward. Wow that really did wonders for us. We might as well have played with 14 men. Our supposed playmaker was taken out of the game. Is it any wonder why we lost to the Ozzies and New Zealand so often??
When last did we beat the Ozzies in Australia? How many times did Meyer go there and take their scalp? How about New Zealand in their back yard?
Once against the Ozzies ... back in Sept 2013. A lonesome win ... for this "great" coach that you so adore.
Wow!! What a legacy!!
How about the All Blacks? Exactly how many Kiwi scalps did Meyer take in New Zealand?
Niks!! Nada!! Fokol!!!
Never!! Not once in his 4 year term as Bok coach.
And this is the fool you two worship!!
Haaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahhaaa!!
Our last victory over the All Blacks in New Zealand was in 2009 under De Villiers as coach.
Since then we've had record scores put up against us. In our own back yard.
Meyer was so busy sucking dick on the side of the field that he forgot what we went there for. What a laugh that was seeing him bow down in worship of the All Black and their Haka. Totally in awe. Mesmerized!!
Their bitch so to speak!!
What kind of message did that send to his team?
You two wankers speak so highly of Meyer and yet you ignore the facts. Then again, what's new.
If you had to set aside your prejudice and ignorance and actually look at the skill levels of players in this country, you would have no choice but to admit that the best 5 lock in the country today is in fact Lood De Jager, which by the way is what Mike's been telling us all along.
He has had a cracker of a season this year and is streets ahead of anyone else in the country.
Yet here you are ... Poepol ... once again ... mouthing off ... totally ignorant ... debating a subject you know nothing about.
Best thing you can do, o Poepoltjie is to shut the fuck up!!
You may learn something.
Lambie ruined? I stopped reading there. Lambie wasn't ruined by Meyer. What has he produced under Plumtree, White, Peter, Meyer and the brief moments under Coetzee? How was he playing for the Barabarians, under Mallett? He can't tackle, can't pass, can't kick far, wilts under pressure, is a slow reader of the game, makes bad decisions, gets charged down alot. He offers very little. Even a past his best Butch schooled Lambie; that was when P lumtree shifted Lambie to 12 to to accommodate Butch, who sparked the Shark attack.
Players that have excelled under Meyer? Pollard, Duane, Eben, Fourie, Jean, Morné, Schalk, Victor, Alberts, Habana, Hendricks, Mohoje (2014), Louw, Willie, Kirchner (2013), Beast, Steenkamp. Just to name but a few.
Herr Drache, you are painting yourself into a corner with these long-winded rants. Calm down and let the clarity of the moment redirect your thoughts. Already the association with Lügnerin is damaging your good standing.
Kriel has already played his best rugby and has not quite made it. Test rugby would possibly be a bridge too far for him. Certainly he in not a classic fetcher and his strength lies out wide. Frankly though if Kolisi got a chance Kriel should have got a chance .
All depends again on you game plan and how you intend to use the player.
Mozart
Sorry - but the real fools on this site can only be you and that miserable sidekick of yours. I answered a dozen of his questions and then came to the conclusion that he does not realize what really happens on the field of play.
But then any idiot who rate Morne and Fat Framnsie as top international players must really be too stupid to discuss rugby issues with, LMAO
You'll rate Lambie as a top test talent, a player who has never been a part of a good attacking backline. Yet you will rate the most successful and highly decorated 10 in Bok history the worst 10 of all time.
And you speak of prejudice. I clearly misdiagnosed your psychosis. I'm busy writing out a prescription for clozapine; Take 50mg 8 times a day, two hours apart. We'll proceed with that for a month and review your situation again.
@Moz: Indeed. I'm not surprised they'd back Swiel. Fresh meat for the slaughter is their way forward. Nothing ruins potential talent like throwing them in the deep end; nothing wastes time like 5 years on a myth.
The lunacy of the fools will never end. I always rated players based on performance not on reputation, When they are over-the-hill I recognize it and there are things I never do -
* I never claimed that I am a world class expert in rugby to justify devious and fake descriptions of what happened in matches;
* I do not wish that players are injured and use injuries as an excuse to discredit players;
* I make mistakes in what I write on site and when I do I admitted same - but when a player fouled up I do not blame other players for what followed and when players make the same mistakes do not cover up for some players and in such an effort lie about circumstances; and
* I do not lie about what members wrote on site and misrepresent what is written om site - a good example is your constant lie about what I wrote about Swiel when I said he seems to have ball sense and is worth looking at in future to see how he develops and you lied implying I said he should be in the Springbok team, I never said Boshoff should be in the Springbok te am when I compare him to the poor Jantjies and the even worse Morne Steyn.
The lies and deception I leave entirely to you and your cronies,
Jaco Kriel is an openside flank. That is where his strength lies and that is where he should have been selected. Not at 7.
Both Coetzee and Rassie have gone with the incompetent spearchucker at 6. A fool that has absolute no business being part of the Bok squad.
Try to keep up, BeanDip.
A fit Vermeulen at 8 with Jaco at 6 would already be an improvement to our back row.
We can then work on finding our blindside flank. There are several options for consideration and Malcolm Marx is not one of them. LOL!!!
Ackermann, Wiese, Du Preez, PS Du Toit, Augustus, van Staden, Brink, Kirsten but to name a few.
See how easy it is, Moffie?
Tell me, o Poepoltjie ... this incredible flyhalf of yours ... you know, the greatest no 10 in the history of the game ... would it perhaps be Morne Steyn?
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahaaaa!!!
A weed ... a poor defender ... no creativity ... cowardly ... stands too deep and because of it takes his backline out of play ... kicks everything away ... struggles at times to find touch ... and the sole cause of a lost test match against the Ozzies.
That Morne Steyn.? The same dweeb who was lost as sea against the All Blacks when they raped us in our back yard with the worst thrashing we've ever experienced?
Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahaaa!!!
Ja nee jong ... he's a Bok legend alright!!
I did not until now read the BS written by the F#ckwit AO, but I now wish to quote the following extract from the latest contribution:-
"Players that have excelled under Meyer? Pollard, Duane, Eben, Fourie, Jean, Morné, Schalk, Victor, Alberts, Habana, Hendricks, Mohoje (2014), Louw, Willie, Kirchner (2013), Beast, Steenkamp. Just to name but a few."
The poephol named 17 layers. Of those -
* I highlighted 6 who despite the total negative impact of Meyer were satisfactory to good;
* one (Burger) was just about average, but showed signs of being over-the-hill; and
* the rest varies from poor to piss-poor in performance.
The above quote is a sure sign of substandard thinking ability on rugby issues,
I also seemed to have missed that post.
Schalk was way past his best by the time Meyer took over. So was the retired Victor and Fourie Du Preez. They were set in their ways and there was nothing that the arrogant Meyer could have done to enhance them.
Claiming that is just another desperate attempt by Poepoltjie!!!
Hendricks and Mohoje should not have been made Boks. They were part of a very large group that Meyer thought worthy of Bok colours. He was a very poor judge of talent as can be seen by these selections. Totally clueless.
Louw was brought in when Meyer discovered that there was such a thing as a breakdown area. He was puzzled by it and that can be seen when he opted for a blindside flank to play on the openside. The warning signs were clear for all to see by then.
Habana was a very talented man and did not need Meyer or anyone else to carve a path to greatness for himself. Besides, if anyone it's Jake White that should take the credit for this amazing rugby player. Not Meyer.
Kirschner was not test material and should never have been made a Bok. One of many blunders by Meyer.
Willie Le Roux was eventually selected by Meyer but only when his hand was forced through injury. The rest of us were calling and calling for Willie, but as usual Meyer knew better. He deserves no credit for Willie.
Steenkamp was a spent force by then so yet again Poepoltjie has his facts confused.
Poepoltjie's best trait is to copy and paste articles that we've already read. He should rather focus on that and leave the discussions to the grownups.
Mizaer
The geriatrics started going backwards rapidly from Novembet 2014 and there continued use by Meyer was the main reason for the present problems.
Losing against Japan is what the geriatrics did - that has never been repeated since.
The team had an average age of a little over 28 but was a geriatric side!
Take Victor out and it dropped to a little over 26. Clever Mike you have a fetish for humiliation. You cheeky boy!
