Jake Ball. A term coined by Spiros Zavos to describe the style of play that has become the signature of Jake White.

Zavos uses the term as an insult, but right now the way the Wallabies are playing is the real insult. They are destroying the credibility of rugby union in Australia. They are turning fans away with their headless chicken antics and poor performances.

What they need is Jake Ball. They need structure, discipline, and strategic thinking. They need to calm their games down, get the grunt up front that Jake White is known for, and then slowly build from there.

The ideals of free-flowing football are not working for them. They currently don’t have the talent or the belief for it.

Which is again where Jake White comes in. He understands how to work with a small talent pool and get the best from them. He understands that you start with a conservative game plan and build wins.

Once that is happening, the players begin to build confidence. After that they can start to take calculated risks and move the ball faster. It is like babies learning to walk and then run. The Wallababies need to first learn to walk, before they start running.

Many will balk at this. They will say it is not the Australian way. But they are incorrect. The Australian way is to win.

The Wallabies have a long way to go before they earn the respect of the nation.

And the only coach who can help them do that is Jake White.

Agree the Wallabies need structure, discipline and strategic thinking but I think Link will remain coach until the world cup. But who knows? We are making some poor decisions in the backs regarding kicking and continually get put under pressure at the break down. Individual play causes us to become isolated too often and we lose possession continually. A bit of forward discipline would also not go astray. The backs are dangerous at times but I think we need to learn to pick our moments, not try to score every play. Test Rugby is not Super 15.

Lets face facts - the Walabies are poorkly served by a deficient Tight 5 combination.   They have lost Moore as a result of injury - there top player in the Tight 5,  Slipper is very good as well - but for the other prop and two locks they do have a serious problem. They re also in trouble with the blind side loosie.  A change of coach would not alter that - any new coach will end up wih the same problem.  Claydog is right - there is too much individual performances and an effort by individuals to succeed and not enough team play to deal with attacking mechanisms.
The highest priority for the Wallabies will be to identify their best Tight 5 combination and try and get a competitive unit for them to operte efficiently.   They should bring in Larkham to deal with the backline functioning as a unit.
Meer changing of the coach would not solve the problem - they really need some specialists to deal with the issues mentioned - especially the sharpening up their  Tight 5.

The guy you have now CD is never accountable, and he is in an emotional mess. You chaps made a mistake not appointing Jake. But I suppose the Deans experience mitigated against that.
