I admire bravery in people and you obviously is a brave person - being twice to Afghanistan.
Problem is that I believe that the older a person gets - the more he realizes how insignificant his achievements in life has been. I would like to quote for you from the sayings of one of the most important residents of 19th century Cape Town who was a friend of royalty and Presidents and did massive work for her people:-

For the benefit of those people who do not understand Afrikaans I will do a free translation:-

The request was not adhered to - the tribute st her grave was undertaken by President M T Steyn of the Free State.
As you rightly stated one believes to much in your own importance and only realize too late how really insignificant you are.
However, there are many things I enjoy - one of which is rugby. I do not like mediocrity in performances and like to watch clever player capable of outwitting opponents. Clever players - using both their instincts (ball sense) and physical abilities are those that are remembered as the great players of the past. Those only using physical strength are never great players - normally average with minimal impact on the game in the longer run.
I do not like players that only try unthinkingly to bulldoze opposing players and think that is all that is required from a rugby player. That is why I really do not value unthinking players like Francois Steyn, Willem Alberts, Morne Steyn, etc. If you really carefully watch all the games they played in throughout the year - in the end you come up with an assessment that they were in fact inadequate.
If you look at Alberts in the whole of Super 15 over the past two years you would find an inadequate loosie - and he was not at all better in tests. He has a reputation of huge ball carries and tackles - but those never produced anything of significance. For instance since he never passes or off-loads balls. his ball carries all result in mauls and his tackles never in the opponents losing possession of the ball.
He has hype and a huge following - but in view of his serious limitations in my view - he is not living up to the hype.

Looks like Fat Albert is going to be starting in the 7 position with Schalk not available. Alberts was very average this year for the Sharks, perhaps he should only be played by the Boks at test level in the Northern Hemisphere .

I think Meyer is a good coach - but he also has his less good days. The occuir rarely - only the days when he picks Sloth and the Stade Francais Reject for the Springbok team.

He has played in half a test since and in 2015 in half a Super 15 match and was not up to standard. That came on the heels of a total failure in Super 15 last year.
So what the heck do we want with a injury-prone, fat, unfit and useless 31 year old in the Springbok team?

Is Robert Mauvis still operating that restaurant in Umhlanga? I can remember him when he had a restaurant in Durban Central near the City hall - we often went their for dinner. He had a few racehorses then and Joy Barendse, Charlie Barendse, Aubrey Roberts and fam ily and Glyn Schofield - his regular jockey - was part of our group.
He then moved to Florida Road and from there to Umhlanga. I often used his restaurant for Business liaison purposes. His wife had the Royal Zulu Pottery inland from Zimbali, I have three sets of pottery brought from her.
This brings back many memories of the good old days and my best friends.
By the way the restaurant was always near the top of the most expensive restaurants in SA. The group of invitees you mentioned would probably cost in the vicinity of R80 000 to entertain.
