Viewed opposite Pollard it was boy vs man. Pollard controlled play and kicked astutely. Willemse is a dangerous runner....but there are a string of flyhalves like that.....the Quaalude, Cipriani, hell even Goosen in his younger days. None of them amounted to a hill of beans. He needs to learn the art of game management.....so clearly missing on Saturday and against the ABs in Pretoria. There's a time for every purpose.....but don't confuse them. For the moment tactical kicking looks like a missing element. I still like the idea of a Carter like apprenticeship at 12, heaven knows we have nobody of talent in that position.

And sadly for the Stormers Jean-Luc du Plessis looked no better when he replaced the floundering Willemse.

Not making excuses for the players , but rugby is a team sport and the whole Stormers system has floundered. There is this clear regression from Currie Cup to Super Rugby and I don't accept that it's the level of competition, rather the quality of coaching. Plus the bureaucratic nonsense going on in the background is beyond.

I'll review the game later. It'll be interesting to see how certain individuals fare.

Morné/Carter; Mohoje/McCaw review? Care to provide some details Herr Albie?

Herr Sitzsack, I am well aware of the situation. After stringent treatment, he was transferred to a specialist. He has since been prescribed smarties to alleviate the symptoms of his paraphilic infantilism.

Willemse had a bit if a shocker and let's not forget he's playing for what looks like the weakest team in the comp this year but he's still a very good Fantasy Rugby scorer .
Fantasy Rugby rewards players who beat a lot of tackles and Willemse is always willing to take on defences.
Interestingly, he's not as adventurous when he plays at fullback so he's pretty much the opposite of other players who play both fullback and flyhalf . . . you pick players like Damian McKenzie when they're playing fullback but you'd prefer Willemse when he's picked at flyhalf.

None of the 12s you mentioned Dave have ever been able to outplay opponents at test level. Over their careers they haven't broken even. Vorster is simply too slow, all Step has is the inside step....easily defended and Allende doesn't have a rugby brain, he is frozen on his post. We haven't had a test level 12 since Jean....why not try something different. Willemse couldn't possibly be worse than those 3 and is a much more dangerous runner. With Pollard the secure incumbent at 10, it's the only way he gets on the park.

Vorster never had the pins taken out of his legs after his last injury spell, and since that time he has been pedestrian. It looks like he is walking on crutches
Delande has the hardware but no software to think. The only thing consistent about his option taking, is that it is usually the wrong one.
Serfontein is the best we have. A very strong defender, good in the crash ball and an ok distributor. A solid player who always gives 100%.
Trying Willemse at 12 could be an option, particularly in the second half once the game starts to open up.

Bullshit Serfontein and de Allende have got the better of any test 12 they have played against. Serfontein before he left for Montpellier was the best test 12 at the time. Last year de Allende outplayed every Kiwi, Oz or English he opposed - FACT Add Odendaal, Frans Venter and Louw to my list of good 12’s - better than the 12’s I see playing premiership rugby up here. Big fans of Esterhuizen and Janse v Rensburg as well but would play them as 13’s but more than happy to see them at 12 as well. Vorster has a good rugby brain makes good running lines and is no slower than any other 12’s out there. I’ve proved on a number of occasions that you are speaking crap re Serfontein only having an inside step. I’ve provided match evidence proving an outside break. de Allende beats more defenders and makes more breaks than any other 12 out there

Dave

De Allende was one of the few Stormers players who at least tried to play rugby.   The team fell apart and the fact is the reason has not been identified.

The orc and his assistants are hard at work here  - but since their rugby knowledge is near to zero - any statement by them on player performances  are best be ignored.   CC is right - the orc  assistant once claimed Kirchner is a better player than Folau and Morne is a better flyhalf than Carter.

By the way Serfontein had a good game for Montpellier yesterday.   The other guys that were top class for their clubs were DH van der Merwe and Reinach - who both scored a brace of tries each.

Actually Dave was the biggest Kirchner fan on the Board bar none....I called him the Wooly Booly and NEVER EVER punted his selection. The Pervert and Dave should work it out.

Dave your take on our centres is the joke.....you simply can't see anything. RPI ranks Allende 30 among all centres, Steppie 32 and Vorster 40. I'd say that's fairly accurate.

If only rugby was a game based on statistics then RPI would select teams and not coaches, I mean it has De Allende above Serfontein which is not representative of the reality.

Well it ranks them pretty close....neither are going to help the Boks. Last I recall of Steppie in a Bok jersey was him being totally gassed by Farrell on a kick chase. It's a case of absence makes the heart grow fonder. But still, I would have ranked him above Allende, simply on an IQbasis.

I'm busy splicing the last of the footage for Damian, for last years test season. He most certainly didn't outplay everyone. Not even close. Esterhuizen's is finished, but I want to post them together.

There's a contradiction there, you hold the opinion that De Allende is a poor defender and that was a problem for the Boks last year. Serfontein is an excellent defender and would help the Boks, even if it's just to keep De Allende out of the team.
Farrell is not a slow player so there's no shame in being out paced by him but yes, Serfontein isn't the fastest centre on the planet.

My take on the centres is 100% correct if you don’t believe me go watch the tests against NZ and England last year. Those centre rankings are insulting anyone who trusts them have to be rugby bafoons. Name a better performing test 12 and 13 last year than Kriel and de Allende - name them and provide the stats to back it up. We have already confirmed how poor Slade was last year and let’s face it his defence is no better this year with that piss poor tackle attempt leading to the French try last week. The guy is a skinny little pretender

Andre played better than Damian. Damian was poor. So much so that Rassie began concentrating possession through Kriel instead, a much stronger and faster option, though still limited. It was interesting to note what Jean said last year, against Scotland. Rassie subbed Damian for Jantjies, and Jean said that this would boost the Boks attacking game. He said we'll see the ball get to the outside backs more with Pollard at 12. In other words, Damian was not effective on attack. Very true. The combination of Damian and Kriel has never worked, has never been world class. They are very commonly outclassed. Damian's England tests were very poor. His tests against New Zealand were hapless. As I say, I'm finally splicing his footage, so we'll see for ourselves. Everything. An entire seasons body of work, isolated. No rosy little highlight videos. Everything. I think the timing is just right. The start of the Super rugby season, when there'll be a greater concentration of fans searching these players online, a nice reminder of what really happened last year. Let that sink in over the rest of the competition. Maybe even open a few eyes so they can assess these games more accurately and honestly themselves.

As did Parkes and Davies. Hodge comfortably outplayed Kriel in both tests.... The only centre who produced a dominating performance was Esterhozen in the Bargie loss. A EsterhuizenC 0 6 14 70 4 7 2 0 .......4 clean breaks, 7 defenders beaten When they were chosen Kriel and Allende were dominated throughout the RC except for the home game against the ABs where SBW had a shocker and the Boks had 60% of territory and possession. A test we should have won easily barring Stephanie and Willemse making beginner's mistakes at the death. And still the NZ centres had better defensive stats. These guys, Allende and Kriel can't even cash in the chips when we get dominant ball. They are bankrupt at creating anything. And likely to make big defensive mistakes at crucial times, which is their history.

I wonder when the Stormers are going to realise that Fleck is a kak coach? Although, given there financial woes, maybe he is all they can afford.
De Allende didn't have a bad game, made some good open field tackles and on the few occasions he actually did get the ball he was difficult to stop. PSDT did a lot of hard work, but it is hard to shine when the rest of the pack, outside of scrum time, was being completely outplayed. I think it was Moz that mentioned it, PSDT is an effective player at 7, but he is not effective alongside a player like Kolisi. There must be at least one player in the loose trio that can fetch, and PSDT will never be such a player. It was in this area of the game that the Bulls had the greatest advantage. Okay, and maybe the line outs...okay, and maybe the tactical kicking....also the defense....and the attacking flair . Wait, did the Stormers actually play?

It's remarkable what the Boks were able to do to NZ at home last year. NZ's backs averaged 178 possessions throughout last season, 185 if we ommit the home Bok test. Yet they were reduced to 78 possessions in SA: 48 passes, 30 r uns. How did the Boks lose this game? Our backs had so much front foot ball with good field position but couldn't break the All Blacks down. Good centres would have a field day in such a game.
