We all know where and how rugby started and named, when William Webb Ellis whilst playing football at school in Rugby England, picked up the soccer ball and ran with it.

Thank goodness it never happened in these 2 towns, one in NZ and the other in Wales.

Webb Ellis under the Great Erasmus would never have stopped kicking the ball.

And the opposition coach probably didn't complain to the press and so the rugby tradition of not griping began. A proud tradition that we hope will be restored.

Yes JW  the Kiwi Bird brain Gatloon should never have complained about Joubert!

Trust a kiwi to start all this. However, I think it was a great PRÉCÉDENT set by Rassie. Imagine the Kiwi ref for the second test daring to cheat like the Australian ref Berry did un the first test !

The down under cheating refs now are on full notice. Another Clip like Rassie produced could bring the House down on cheating down under refs! 7

Actually Seb, the story around these parts is that the game originated in Long Buckby. Webb Ellis travelled through there to get to Rugby School and ,allegedly, saw the locals playing the game on the village green. He then did the same at school and Rugby was born .

Becs, just being a little ridiculous...the game Rugby was named rugby because of the Place.

Imagine the game being called after those NZ or Welsh names...

Oh I know you were, Seb.

But Long Buckby sticks to their story of Rugby’s origins….we sometimes refer to Rugby as Long Buckby around here ! They claim Webb Ellis stole their game and even their Rugby Club is titled as the oldest in the world, played many years before he picked up that ball and ran with it at Rugby School.
