Wimbledon crowd proves horribly partisan again

The Chair Umpire could have asked for the last point to be replayed when a high pitched scream distracted Halep on her last shot. But why would an Umpire do that when he refused to entertain a Konta challenge which he knew was fruitless, saving her challenge. Never seen that before. ... Probably not hearing this on Brit TV but a number of US greats commented on the Wimbledon bias. Pam Shriver describing her worst experience in her long career which happened at Wimbledon. .... As Konta said: 'a little over enthusiastic'. But then she lied saying it put her off her prior shot more than her opponent...when clearly the woman screamed after Konta hit her last shot. So demure.....lying through her teeth. ... And Halep endured this stuff, not just on match point but throughout the match. The myth of British sportsmanship exposed again. And truth be told there can't be 10 people on the planet who wanted Halep to win.

 Glad to see Halep is not taking the whinging kiwi route route alla hacked waaugh and company!  Konta deserved her win in my opinion and good luck to her.
The British spectators are quite  entitled to support their players and it provided great atmosphere. The home crowds always backs the home players - except perhaps in Federer's case. The woman who squealed did so because she thought Haleps shot was out. There was no need for Haleps last weak shot.It was a great game and a tribute to both players.
Very happy to see Gilles Mueller beat the entitled Rafa Nadal who was most put out in losing! Hahahhahahaha 
Very much enjoyed watching Ostapenko again. Huge talent hitting the ball harder than Venus and hitting more winners and less errors. Venus had the better serve and it ultimately won her the match. I believe Ostapenko can improve her serve and go on to great things. Venus going strong.Go Federer let's have an eighth Wimbledon title!No more sour grapes Dr Mozzzz just because your favorite lost.  

What next? Twickenham, Eden Park, Ellis Park, Loftus, Murrayfield, Anfield, Stamford Bridge, Old Trafford, Whitehart Lane...... all too partisan?

Twickenham for sure....but Wimbledon is supposed to be this cradle of good sportsmanship. As for Halep I can't stand her, but she deserved better.

Nonsense I rate the Poms very highly, I just don't buy all their BS. They are very entertaining, but often hopelessly poor sports. That said I agree with G&S.....'it's greatly to his credit, that he is an Englishman'.

Better crowd today as the Bonnie Earl O' Murray lost to a queer geezer. Actually Murray was obviously not in good shape, he couldn't change direction or push off to get to wide balls.

Uhmmm....... Murray was actually struggling with a hip injury but so be it. In other news Djokovic retired injured as well but obviously Murray, who battled through his match, is the biggest wuss around. Anyways, that leaves only "old man" Federer of the big four still in the running after making minced meat of Raonic, the same guy who was beaten by Murray in the final last year. Coincidentally the guy who beat Murray today is the same guy who got rid of Djokovic last year. So, all in all I am still happy with proceedings, since Federer is my favourite in any case.

Actually that's what I was saying....Murray was injured, he couldn't push off particularly to his right. I agree he handled the whole thing well today.

Indeed, CC. Pity about this injury. I didn't think that he was going to make it to Wimbledon but I think it was probably pride that drove him to give it a shot. Deep down I didn't expect him to make it this far in any case and it is not as if he went down without one hell of a fight yesterday either.

Federer has got a free ticket to the trophy this year. No Djokovic, no Nadal, No Murray! I like Federer, mostly because he doesn't grunt every time he hits the ball, but I would not be upset if one of the other three took the title. Fed has had more than his fair share of glory.  
On Murray, I am shocked he even has one fan outside the soggy island, but I guess each to their own. 

 Something not mentioned about Federer. There are no ATP 1000 events on grass. I can think of at least three on clay. Hence if there had been three on grass Federer would be well ahead of Nadal on ATP 1000 wins and not I think it is 4 behind. Federer is the better all round player being dominant on Grass and Hardcourt by a huge margin.  I don't if I am getting this right is is ou cerdunce windpomp calling Doks a wuss. Bwahahhahaha I suppose I am doubting even the Dunce can be that silly! I don't know for sure but it looked like tennis elbow which I have had and it is impossible to play with. It affects, as Doks said, your serve and forehand.It is amazing Doks got that far!

Not what I was saying, Beeno. I was actually having a dig at those who are always crucifying Murray. @Bluebok. There are more people (not from the UK) who rate Murray than you think. People who know more about tennis than you and me put together. People like John McEnroe and Borris Becker for instance.

Ended up being a decent match, played wiith a bit of old style dignity. Venus never even challenged on the first set point for a shot that just clipped the line. And there was a minimum of grunting. .. Certainly at times Serena has behaved poorly...but I can't recall seeing anything from Venus. She is in fact a throwback to old style players like Margeret Court and Goolagong. And she has battled through an auto immune disease for 6 years. ... The Spaniard will be tough on Saturday, but So will Venus....in a dignified way.

 I saw the interview last night, Venus was a true lady an d modest with it. Good to see.

One of my favourite female tennis players was Spaniard Aranxa Sanchez Vicario. Reached the Wimbledon finals twice, I think, and the French Open a few times as well. Hell of a little fighter. She won her first French Open, when she was only 17, when she beat Steffi Graff.

Monica Seles was a premier grunter....no doubt. But she was formidable up until she was attacked. Oddly if I recall correctly she learned her grunting at the Bollettiere School where Sharpova was also vocally tuned. I enjoyed the way Goolagong played, effortless. .. Vlag Sanchez Vicario consistently punched above her weight, a bit like Hingis....both tactical players but Aranxa had more real game

 Gaby Sabatini was the one I always rated as gorgeous.

 I once had the pleasure of dealing to Anna Kournikova and her then boyfriend now husband Enriqu (roulette not drugs, put your cash away Plum. Lol.) Anyways she looked amazing and I was smittten. Lovely people they were too.

 
I find myself also hoping Venus does it today.

Her fat ass sister has had it all her way over the years. As arrogant as they come.

Besides that ... I love Venus' humble manner.
