it means we will have to endure that ponderous plodder at 10 - ouch another few months of Morne - no chance of Bok rugby progression then!!

Is this your stealth way of abandoning your former pick Jantjies?

I am very sorry about Goosen and think that we now are in great trouble.   My second choice for flyhalf is Lambie - or even Pienaar - ahead of the useless Morne.    Problem is that blundering and no defence is the norm with Steyn and his goalkicking is also up and down.

Hope Goosen recovers soon enough to be in the mix after July 2012.

No way Moz. Jantjies would be my 10 without a shadow of a doubt, but he is playing for the Lions and therefore wont get a look in with Meyer. The point of my post was that Goosen was in with a shout ahead of Morne, which an article or two has confirmed - this is not going to happen now is it?

Morne Steyn has made 63 tackles and missed 7 in this S15 series. He has not consceded a single try due to a missed tackle.

I will have a look again Saff. TBH I have said long ago that I have not been able to watch the entire game. I was watching online and lost large parts of the game. It was not shown on Sky remember. I will download it and check. I have gone purely on the Opta stats. Fact remains, that the game against the Brumbies was a poor match by Morne's standards, and I know that you would argue that he is crap anyway. Having said that, I do not know you for somoen who would discredit a player for based on a single poor performance, especially when that is way out of line with his normal performance. I am of course referring to his defence only. As for the rest I think that we would have to (and probably have already) agree/d to disagree. LOL

Yep as I have said his defence is no major issue to me, more that he is a bog ordinary rugby player and I just cant bring myself to get excited about ordinary or solid. A test team needs 15 special players in it

I assume that you are talking about Smith's try. yes, Morne did slip that tackle, but there were two players behind him and they both tackled Smith at the sam time, and he slipped through their tackle, and then scored. His miss was not the one that led to the try being scored.

Yes it was, by the time Smith got the ball he was almost over the try line

It is immensely disappointing that this brilliant young player is out. What saffex and some do not understand is that these youngsters should not be overplayed as they are not battle hardened. Kitshoff must not be overpalyed  take note Alistair.

Our flyhalve stocks are pretty good with Morne (Its a pity ou daveou overstates his case re Morne),Grant, Lambie and Jantjes. Morne will get then nod.

Nope, he wasn't. I wish I knew how to post an image on here. I would have shown you that he was halfway between the 22 and the 5 yards line. Check 68:31. The other two players who let Smith slip through were Sadie and Stander, about 6-7 metres from the goal line.

The player beat Morne hands down, cant say the same happened with CJ and Sadie, they were not one on one misses, by the time Smith got it, it was game over

A matter of opinion, Dave. Defence is in most cases a team effort. Smith slipped out of Sadie's hands and then went through Stander's hands 6-7 metres from the goal line. There was enough time and space for them to stop him as well. But then again, we have agreed that in general, there is not much wrong with MS' defence, and that the game against the Brumbies was way below his usual. Many players have been beaten hands down before, but they are not ponderous plodders. Francois Hougaard beat Joe Pietersen hands down as well, in the one game last year, to score under the sticks.

I think it is a real shame to lose Goosen, but then the kid is only 19 and I would rather prefer that he doesn't get overplayed at such young age. Give him a few more seasons to grow. Very few players can handle the rigours of International rugby. Frans Steyn is the only player of note that could do it.

Morne's star is definately dropping, for me the only solid candidate is Grant. I like Jantjies and the energy that he brings, but knowing meyer. He will go for Steyn and some other borring option at flyhalf.

Sadly yes, we are going to have to endure Morne for a while longer until we wake up to the fact that he is selling Bok rugby short in terms of moving forward.
