He was the dominant player by the end of the game....a spectacular pass to Ashley Johnson, a numerous other touches. Ashley Johnson was also vastly productive. Groom quietly competent for Gloucester. And de Jongh so smart stripping balls, tackling deep over the advantage line and ultimately running a clean line for his try.
..
Leaving Le Roux out of Bok consideration is inexpicable.......I like your team Xavi, fun to watch.

Good to hear he is playing well. As long as he is not doing chip kicks, he is excellentHe always creates one try or more, if he also does not score.
Having Leroux and Jantjies in the team would be more creative and sure to get the backline running well.
If he was to combine with a player like Skosan in space,

One of our posters was in favour of Willie at 10.......I wonder why that was never tried.

The problem was that Le Roux was years ahead in rugby sense and he ended up being constantly under pressure without any support from players - hence his chip kicks. Le Roux initially did well for the Springboks - but became isolated and put under pressure as a result of the BS dished up by the Meyer backline and even worse by the Coetzee lunacy.
Under a proper all-round game plan Le Roux remains a top class player.

Than ks for the news Moz, I have been calling for Le Roux to be selected. He would thrive in the current set up.

Nope. Many, if not most of those chip kicks were just unforced stupidity. Willie is a game breaker, but he blows so hot and cold.

Yes ... he certainly can win you a match ... but he can lose you the match single-handedly too ...
I'd much rather put Gelant in at 15 ... and leave him to settle.
Willie is old news. Time to move on.

Le Roux is SA's Quade Cooper.
Wasps have so much pace and alot of playmakers in the backs and forwards. Very exciting to watch and now Carr is on his way to help with loosie cover for a few months.
On Ashley Johnson.
This man is a credit to Wasps and SA. After Wasps loss to Leinster last season he was at the Jaguar Landrover junior cup the next day. Our lads had just lost their semi final and were down in the dumps. Along comes Ashley with some words of encouragement and he properly geesed them up.
He didn't have to be there at the tourny or come over to see how the kids were getting on. He did it cos he's a top lad.
Oh and Gopperth is the form Kiwi 10 this season and every season since he joined Wasps

The opportunity to play Willie at 10 was wasted, I'm saying it should have been tried to see if it would work. Noticeably his best work was as playmaker when he joined the backline. Willie minus his dumb chipkicks was ahead of his time, our useless coaches wouldn't know how to utilize his creativity but perhaps it would have been a different story had he played for another country.

Playing him at 10 was always an option- especially in the last 30 minutes of the match when space starts to open up. He is one of our few backs that understand how to create space, and his crisp pass was as good as a scrumhalf.

For me Willie is exactly like Jantjies. Game winner and game loser all in one. Granted, he has actually performed well for the Boks, unlike Jantjies, but he is still too inconsistent to be taken seriously. That said, I have not been watching him since he moved up North, so his consistency may have improved, but I doubt it.

Leroux becomes the backline coach when he is on the field. The problem is that sometimes the other players do not know beforehand.
If Leroux was to combine with a quality coach that understood backline play- he could be much better- or at least much more consistent.
Sometimes he is a one man band on attack- while the other backs are just trying to crash ball

Wee cc is hopelessly at sea on the Willie Le roux issue.Willie is 28 years old and hardly too old! Le Roux was the ONLY backline attacking option the Boks had and he was marked heavily. Under the current scenario tries are being scored and there is much more to look at for than Willie.Willie but for the stupidity and of Alistair and the racists quotas should be in the squad.End of story!

There wouldn't be a coach in the country who knows how to coach creating space so it's beyond them to have helped Willie.....unlike any other Bok backline player he has a brain and uses it to create doubt in opposition defences. When he joined the backline he had presence, things started happening, the opposition were jittery......isn't that what flyhalf play is all about? For me it is.
Wind back to when Stephen Larkham was converted from f ullback to flyhalf and how that turned out.....Willie has more natural talent and creativity than Larkham.

Agree with that....if Larkham could succeed retredding from fullback, why not Willie.

Don't think I'd like to see some loosies or big centers running down that 10/12 channel. As great as he is attacking the line he's a bit of a sieve defensively.
He's great at popping up at 1st reciever after 3 or 4 phases on the opposite side to the flyhalf when defences are being rushed.
Against a structured defensive line when he's the target might not go so well.
