World best 15 for 2016

Seeing as though our rugby season has come to an end, and if we are left to our own devices we're bound to argue about nothing, I reckon we argue about the best 15 players in the world for 2016 instead. Your thoughts?

Lets start with Loosehead prop and work our way down. I'll update the choices as we go.

 How about a string for each position....maybe that will foster some debate. Just a thought.

 Rugby is a team game and players perform accordingly to their team.

There is nothing like a performance outside a team, only performances inside a team.

So the answer is a team. And NZ being way too ahead to look elsewhere.

That is such a stupid statement TheTrad. So by your logic, no player anywhere in the world played better than the worst performing All Black this year!! It is stupid by excellent men's standards as excellent men reject actual considerations and prefer fancied considerations.

NZ play winner rugby. Other countries play loser rugby.

How to compare players who play under different goals?

There is nothing like the worst AB. There are only players who play the rugby it takes to win. Their performance is shaped by the demand of winning, some are in the spot light, others are in the shadows.

Other countries playing loser rugby focus on sectors in order to appear better than they are. They can rig their performance as they are bothered by the imperative of winning.

This was already mentioned after the french game: the french squad plays first and beyond everything in a way thought to please their fans. This will make some of them better than they are as they sacrifice the goal of winning to perform in a certain way.

Any nation playing loser rugby can focus on their scrum to make their forwards appear better, any nation playing loser rugby can focus on their backline runs to make their backs appear better. All this happening at the expense of winning.

The balance required by winning is thrown away.

A player performances can not be dissociated from the teams the player plays in.

With so many SA players failing to make a statement on the international rugby scene, one could have thought that obvious point could not be ignored.

 Ya gotta have Retallick and Whitelock as an inseperable pair surely ?
