Leading players from Fiji, Samoa and Tonga are set to vote in a bid to boycott this year's World Cup in Japan. The PRPW (Pacific Rugby Player's Welfare) and its 600 members - including England's Manu Tuilagi - are canvassing a protest. 

Ex-Samoa Lock Daniel Leo: "This is 1995 and the creation of SANZAR all over again. This is exactly what happened when they created Super Rugby and all of the subsequent years of expansion. Their watchword was – let's take their players but whatever happens, keep the islands out. This will be Pacific Rugby Disaster 2.0."

The pacific Islands also need to understand that business is not a charity service. If they could develop their economies, then they could contribute to the sport, rather than just get a hand out. 
It is dissapointing for them- but rugby is a business competing with o ther sports...

They are heavily disadvantaged by their populations. Fiji has 905,000 inhabitants, Samoa 197,000, Tonga 108,000. Yet, despite their low numbers, they've long been fertile ground for rugby talent. Do you honestly think the USA will ever compete with that? Do you honestly think they'll be as competitive?
