I'd like to see who you all think should make the 2013 world team of the year?
World XV of the year
2 bizzy (SA)
3 m castrogiovanni (ITL)
4 lady elizabeth (SA)
5 b retallick (NZL)
6 l messam (NZL)
7 m hooper(AUS)
8 k read (NZL)
9 a smith (NZL)
10 a cruden (NZL)
11 j savea (NZL)
12 w fofana (FRA)
13 c snake (NZL)
14 b smith (NZL)
15 l halfpenny (WAL)
i had corbisiero from england originally at loosehead, but on reflection, woodcock and beast had better seasons, and beast wasnt as hampered by injury so hes my loosie of 2013.
also had warburton originally at 7, but as saffex mentioned on another thread, hooper was better and he really was.
another very close one was between halfpenny and folau, but halfpenny was man of the series for the 2013 6 nats, and while folau won a man of the match award in a lions vs wallys test, halfpenny won one too, and his team won the series.
would have loved to have added vermeulen in my team, as IMO hes been the Boks best player and someone who i like watching, but as good as he is, theres daylight between him and read.
k read would also be my player of the year, the best of the best easy.
Davies at 13 possibly for Conrad although I believe NZL may have produced better rugby in the NH with Snakey there. Taking nothing away from Ben Smith but he has some way to go until he is as comfy as Conrad at 13.
Read is always a safe bet. Best player in the world. I would have thought Vermuelen would be more valuable in NH conditions but Read's game is so complete that he can adapt to any conditions. He is even better than I thought and I used to think he was the best in the world.
Fofana?? Nah, I thought JDV was more instrumental to the Bok season this year and played really well.
It was a year for wingers. Whilst Willie played really well and really announce himself on the international stage, so did Savea and Ben Smith also play well. Habana included. Fair call that it goes to Savea and Smith but you really could pick any of those 4 and still be justified.
Damn right there is no kiwi's in the front row. Thats where man hang out ;-)
