I expect this will be the preferred starting team at the World Cup. I am not sure why the older players who are not the first choice or even second choice are even being considered if the World Cup is in 2 years' time. It appears they are higher up the pecking order than most would think. Now is the time to experiment with new players while keeping the nucleus of players who will certainly make the next World Cup.
- OS
- Mombambi (He is no longer even a 2nd or 3rd choice)
- Koch (Why is this plodder still on the bench)
- Eztebeth (Will he make the next World Cup? Maybe, but he is a worthwhile investment)
- Mostert (his thin body may snap at any moment)
- Kolisi (A non-factor at the breakdown, and he is now past his best)
- Pieter Steph DuToit (Hopefully his body holds up)
- Jasper Wiese
- Faff Deklerk (Should not be considered, will be too old)
- Pollard (Not bad, but the backline can be a bit sterile with him at 10)
- Ardense
- Delande (We are certainly stuck with Delande)
- Jessie Kriel
- Kolbe
- Damien Willemse
