Moz, SA fans are typically hard on there own especially when we have lost. We are always looking for something to blame but we are no worse than NZL or Aus.
The thing is, NZL do not have to endure what we do. Let me ask you this. The way Frans has played of late and last year, would he still be in any NZL super rugby side? Not even close. Your name means nothing in NZL. What you do on the field means everything. We can not harp on the games Frans won for us back then. We can only see the games he is under performing in for us right now. That's why you don't see NZL picking Muliaina and Carlos Spencer when he was with the Lions. Yes, they are forever thankful to those players but they are no longer good enough despite what they once were.
It happens. It's called life! Some of it is ridiculous and usually it's from Saffex like he thinks Habana and Jean are useless but in Frans case now, he has not been his best in years. I backed him as we were still winning games but we are not now.
In a kiwi team, you get a couple chances and then you are out of there. Frans would not make any NZL match 23 right now!

BL I have no problem with an up or out philosophy. But the incumbent needs to be displaced...we tend to be making Boks of so many younger players. Can anybody even remember the Cronje brothers or Sykes or many of the guys who were supposed to Bok certainties. But whatever the decision....good will towards our senior players seems little to ask. If most of the big mouthed palookas on here met Frans Steyn they would be a lot more polite or would regret it.

You obviously are correct here. I think Mozart's problem is with one player who have been criticized for poor performances for a while now and that is Francois Steyn. He obviously would not have been retained by any New Zealand franchise for long if he under-performed.
Take for instance the Benji Marshall case - he was not performing and his contract was cancelled based on the fact that he did not show progress in performance in Rugby Union.
Steyn's problems started in France when he played there for two years. He came back from France with which from a rugby perspective were serious - he was overweight and slow. He was disappointing in the 2012 tests before his injury. He then came back after a long injury absence and he really was not good enough. He became progressively worse as the series progressed and Plumtree was forced to take action, because he was not producing the goods. Ultimately after serious public criticism of Steyn's physical condition and speed - and a direct question by an interviewer about the issue - Plumtree was honest and confirmed the fact that he was seriously overweight and they were trying to get him from 118 kgs down to 106 kgs. That was the reason for his slow speed. They never really succeeded with that.
The beginning of the year - the public was informed that Steyn got his weight down to 106 kgs and the expectations were high that he would show much better performance and his speed deficiency would be over as a result of him being at a better playing weight. However, over the last three months -
* there are serious public observation that his weight was rapidly increasing again; and
* that the speed deficiency was never really overcome and he is still very slow for a backline player.
What was obvious is that Steyn's performance was below par and the public tried to find the reasons for it. We are not the only board where Steyn is criticized for under-performance - go to Sharksworld and you will see much of the same. This type of criticism tense to hit the public media sooner or later.
The problem would have been raised earlier because the Sharks - despite a clear indication of a malfunctioning backline - was winning matches and lost only a few. However, criticism became more intense over the last month because of game losses to the Bulls, Highlanders and now the Brumbies. Despite the wins - there was widespread discourse on the poor performances of the Sharks in scoring tries.
In dealing with the Steyn saga - reasonable people start to look at the rea sons for the under-performance by Steyn and the outcome was evident - part of the reason is his weight condition and hi speed deficiency, and Mozart now wants to take a view that honest observation should be avoided and not raised on this site. Why? Must we sensor our comments - because it may reflect badly on Steyn.

if NZ rugby lost as much as SA rugby, kiwis would turn on their own a lot more frequent like the locals.
recent examples which saffas might not be aware of is stephen donald after the hong kong bledisloe in 2010, one lost test for the year, and i could prob count on one hand the number of donald supporters back then.
simon mannix was another who after one test copped a lot of slack, same with ron cribb who even though he had a pretty solid career, missed one tackle which cost us the test against australia.
kiwis and saffas have the same amount of passion for rugby, but NZ has their shit sorted from top to bottom, as all NZ rugby roads lead to the All Blacks.
SA do not, their administration is a joke and the provinces/club all put their interests before the greater good which is the Boks.
SA coaches are also a joke, i mean seriously, joke white is SA best coach a man who by all accounts seems to have learned his trade from soccer.
its also a big reason why saffas take out their frustrations with blaming the referee, which is commonly mistaken as SAs national anthem.
getting of topic, but kiwis are hard on their own too, but its in proportion to the success which no one in the world could even imagine matching. this is a good thing for the players, not so much the saffa players.

A couple of names do spring to mind Moz.
Between Anton Oliver and Mark Hammet who BOTH couldn't throw to save their lives, they have both contributed to Bledisloe wins for the Wallabies.
A certain Legendary Stephen Donald at a certain Hong Kong Test also comes up.
The worst I can think of is Justin Marshall who should have won a Wallabies or French jersey and NOW I think he also qualifies for a Springbok Jersey.

The hypocrisy of this thread beggars belief!
The deceitful snake Moffie has slagged off more Springboks than any other poster I can think of. Apart from his current attacks on Springboks like JJ Engelbrecht, Jan Serfontein, Pat Lambie and Pieter-Steph du Toit, there is a long, long list of ex-Springboks who this lying and manipulative hypocrite has slagged off . . . too many to mention . . . but the most famous has to be Jaque Fourie. Moffie attacked Jaque Fourie incessantly in a particularly spiteful and vitriolic manner for a period of about 10 years, ripping into his ability, his commitment, his physique, his character and his personality.
The fact that this pompous old liar is now having a tearful little bleat because people are (rightly) criticising Fat Fransie - who believe it or not happens to be Moffie's pick for Springbok flyhalf - is nothing short of reprehensible.
Hypocrisy of the highest order! The stench is almost unbearable!

@wardaddy,
i would have to say that donald never bothered me either, but i was pretty pissed about that game, we only losgt one test that year, and it was that honkg kong test.
funny though, it was also the staging ground for the cooper/McCaw war, where cooper shoved McCaw in the back who was sitting on the ground after the wallabies scored a try.
poor cooper, how quickly the mediocre had fallen, lolz,

Hahaha too true Sas ,Cooper didnt have far to fall from his not so lofty perch..
