"The 29-year-old believes he has something to prove to himself more than to anybody else.

'I wouldn't say to prove a point, but maybe I have a point to prove to myself,' he said."

I'd say in fairness the 29 year old Wynand after countless tests has a point to prove to the fans. Only Dave still believes this guy is test quality....and at 29 he can't count on Dave's support for too long.

Ive never liked him as a player.

What does he bring to the party besides a flashy hairdo and a Colgate smile?

Im sure I along with everybody else would much rather have Frans Steyn's bushy afro and boere butt in the Bok side.

I have always rated him as the back-up to Jean, but his time is done. I would not have him in my squad any longer. We should be moving Jean to 12 and playing JP at 13 this test

He has played some excellant games for the bulls- but in over 30 tests has done nothing for the boks except run into a brick wall- one dimensional crashball. Most of his chances were under PDV- which was no game plan in the backline except kick and chase. Everyone lost form under PDV in the backs. With Morne playing well and at leasting attacking- I still have a little bit of faith- but not much. hopefully he proves his crticitcs wrong

Read elsewhere that he has a 38% win record with Boks ..... if true, fits in well with his solitary try .

He is useless - but I wanted to upset all contributors by using his pic as my avatar.    That would have really gotten me into trouble with you lot.

Now lets be fair - as a junior years ago Olivier really showed promise - but after 2007 WC his game went backwards and he must know it himself, hence his statement in the media.   He is 28 years old and now he wants to "find himself"   That would be impossible - at his age there is very little chance of improvmeent in his play.

Meisiekind should rather keep quiet and go and play for the Bulls - or better still - a second rate French or POM team - nobody else would want him.

Attitude counts for  a lot so perhaps Wynand will surprise  a few. He has always been a good defensive center but Manu is a beast and a huge challenge for any center we have bar Frans Steyn.

Go Olivier show em you can do it. Its your last chance methinks.

Blobbok those stats are really meaningless and cant in any case be put down solely to Olivier. Good to see you spending some time here!

Orange peeler, Bwahahaha! A sign of a genuine newby! He really has been good for the Bulls over the years, but this year even with the Bulls he has been nothing more than average. He was never able to carry his form over to the Boks, and I see no reason why that is going to change now.

Sorry HasBeen, I can't buy the good defence bit. Matt Giteau absolutely gassed this guy, the Quaalude gassed this guy......always through the outside gap. He was ok as a  heavy contact stopper.....put a fast centre on Wynand in space and it was big trouble.

Look, reading my last post, I disagree a little with me. Olivier is not the best, but he is good enough to hold his own. Defensively, he may have been beaten on a few occasions in his carreer, as have all players, but he remains solid on defence...and I can tell you now, keep Tuilagi quiet is why he is in the team.

He absolutely has everything to prove... to the fans.

Way I see it 1 of 2 things will happen, both of these things involve Basson coming off the bench :)
