Meanwhile the wee abs themselves showed better sportmanship than some kbbs!!
Cape Town - The All Blacks have displayed good sportsmanship by congratulating the Springboks on their Rugby Championship victory at Ellis Park last Saturday.
The Boks broke a three-year drought when they beat their old rivals 27-25, courtesy of a late 55m penalty from substitute flyhalf Pat Lambie.
The game was played in good spirit with both captains and coaches lauding their counterparts following the epic encounter.
The Kiwis - who lost for the first time in 22 Tests - accepted they were beaten by the better team on the day and on Tuesday again congratulated the Boks on their win, as well as wishing them good luck for their upcoming European tour.
It would be nice if ou brycy, warped DUD, moola and co accepted the verdict of the wee abs. Beaten by a better team.

I am not one who set stock by the player ratings of journalists. They ahve to sell their daily rags - so they come up with weird ratings - normally based on one single incident in th game - which they generalized and thn make out that that was what the player was like for the full game.
Pollard defnitely was niles better than Barrett - and Read had a reasonably good game - but not better than Vermeulen. I think Vermeulen was at least 1 point better than Read. I would say that Hougaard was also a point better than Smith.
By the way - the problem with assessments is that onecan never make out from those who won th e game and who lost it. Take the player ratings in the Perth test - if you look at the ratings of the Springboks - without knowing the actual result - you would conclude that the Springboks woon the game easily.

Who was missing from the AB team that makes it into the B-team? Let me think - Nonu, Carter and Retallick. Nonu is no better than Fekitoa - matter of fact I think Fekitoa is better than Nonu - who has a tendency to get carded in any event.
Carter has no had a game since the since April - I believe. He is hiding away - being dead scared of Bismarck and terrified of Vermeulen, As Jeff Wilson said on Skysport - will he ever play again?
And then there is Retallick - fairly innocuous in Tight five play. He may have made one or two more tackles than Thrush did - but that would not have cha nged the game.
O - I forgoot about Cruden - the Springboks would love hanving to play against him after he went to pieces in Wellingtomn. Barrett was far mor dangerous from their perspective.

Why was Cruden so average in the Wellington test and why did he towards the end of the time he spent on the field go to pieces. Some of his kicks especially was pathetic. Would he have been able to deal with Poollard - I doubt it very much.

Frnkly i rate Barrett and Slade higher than Cruden as flyhalfs and that was evident ove rthe last two years on Super 15 level.

not so clever mike ..even when Cruden has a bad day we still win....will be even more dangerous with SBW running off him though...you yarpies won't know what hit you..

Vermuelen would have got more points had he not constantly used his head as a battering ram clearing the rucks the whole game - hakwa being the constant voice of reason yet again - no thanks is needed Beeno

Boh Vermeulen and Read made critical mistakes at times during the match - but both were good. However, on balance Vermeulen was much better and effective than Read. I am saying this as an independent observer in this case.
I always said they are different kind of players - in some aspects of the game Read is better - a better linker with his backlie and better in open field ball carries. In others Vermeulen is better - a stronger ball carrier in traffic and better in breakdown ball recovery. I would play Read at 8 and vermeulen as blind side flank in my dream team. If I had a choice strctlly as na 8 - on present form I would pick Vermeulen ahead of Read as an 8.
