With nothing on today and the weather in Florida too cold for golf, I decided to rewatch the Pom game. After Farrell misses his first kick they say something along the lines of having now seen Stewart miss a high ball and Farrell miss a kick, what else could happen.

Then Farrell lines up his next kick and they say, having got the bad one out of his system, he should resume normal service and clipping these over is how England builds their lead…..he duck hooks it horribly… and they then speculate that some injury may be bothering him. But apparently Farrell’s tonsils are fine because he produces a loud ‘f -off’.

After some comments about England nullifying the Boks….Willemse then clips over a neat drop goal. Followed by some moaning about South Africa unexpectedly being in the lead….despite the fact that we have had the lion’s  share of possession.

Then delightfully Willemse taking the high ball  steps golden boy Stewart and Willie puts Arendse away, who leaves Smith for dead.  To his credit the main Pom mouth calls it a work of art and goes on about Willie and Willemse. And for the rest of the half they berate the Poms…..but at 3 to 3 you would have sworn England had the game won.

I had a good laugh at Farrell’s ‘fuck off’ Will Greenwood pitch side after that game said it was one of England’s lowest points ever. Men against boys The Poms rely on physical domination but that becomes a problem when facing the more physical Boks A real surprise to me in that game given we had Orie and Mostert in the pack and the Poms had a lock at flank

It was a surprise that Farrell was even taking the kicks. He did appear to genuinely be injured, and given Marcus Smith was at 10.

Marcus Smith looked just as average on the day as Farrell.

Saffex, this English side was built on speed and accuracy, it hasn't been built with power in mind since 2009. A fast and oppressive line speed, and accuracy in midfield. They've been a fairly routine W for many, many years. By far the best match up of the 6 Nation sides.

Farrell was injured, he had hurt his ankle on the leg he plants for goal kicking.

We lack power. Oh for the good old days when we made other teams look like boys

Oh what utter shit Doos you profoundly ignorant fool The Poms are the next most physical side after the Boks and that’s a fact They base their game on physical dominance as a base Apart from obviously witnessing that I know that for a fact based on chats with a current English forward I know really well

I was about to say the same thing Saffex.

England has always been known for their big pack.
In many ways, I have always felt the Boks and England are similar teams, although the Boks are currently running the ball more.

When England's pack gets going it is a Juggernaut. It creates so much space on the gain line that it sucks in lots of defenders. When their ball carriers are dominating the advantage line AND they are dominating the breakdown with quick ball, they are deadly.

The set piece is currently a problem for England, and their ball retention at the ruck has not been good enough. Therefore they are not building phases for the pack to gain confidence and assert their style on the game.

Eddie Jones may have been rotating players too much, instead of building combinations.

Personally I don’t think you can claim to be physical if your scrum is being destroyed as England’s currently is. We do better against their scrum than against Ireland, France and even NZ.

Yes Moz hence the fact they are struggling a bit right now - their pack is not achieving the ascendancy but traditionally they do except against the Boks

England have fielded 0 power packs since 2010. That was the end of it. Martin Johnson agitated that change.
