This is my first chance to say thanks for all your kind words after the passing of my dad, it really helped during a tough time. Unfortunately I haven't been able to contribute during to the discussion here as I was sorting out some stuff out. I did browse when I had the chance though! Unfortunately for you guys I'm here for the long haul now, hope you've all been well!

Anyway on to some rugby, let's say hypothetically there were no injuries what would be your ideal XV.
Mine would be:
15. Willie - goes without saying
14. JP - a tough one, Hendricks has done will with the opportunities he has been given but I think JP is more assured defensively and still classy going forward, but with Senatla making huge strides I expect to see him sooner rather than later.
13. De Allende - A good talent, someone that needs to be invested in
12. Serfontein - Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Jean fan and if he can start to produce his 2013 form then he's the best 12 but Serfontein is begining to look like the better proposition and De Allende and Serfontein could definitely be a long-term successful partnership
11. Habana - Still our best wing
10. Pollard -Not much between him and Lambie, Goosen, probably rate Goosen and Pollard a bit more than Lambie, albeit Lambie is an excellent player nonetheless
9. Du Preez - still our best Scrum-half, controls pace and tempo excellently, slowly integrate Reinach into the team

8. Duane - goes without saying
7. I genuinely don't know, up for grabs till the WC
6. Coetzee - not much between him and flouw at the moment but I see Coetzee having the higher ceiling
5. PSDT - if he returns from injury with previous form, he's excellent, if not then Willemse or Lood

4. Etzebeth - goes without saying
3. v/d Merwe/Malherbe - 50/50 atm for me, let's see how they develop
2. Bismarck - Still the best hooker in the world for me, with the second best hooker in the world Strauss on the bench
1. Beast - Still the best we've got, although Du Toit will be huge and needs to be given game time

I'm not saying this is right or wrong, just my opinion, what's yours?

I like the Lions props and am amazed that Meyer is not considering them - they have been the top scrumming props in Super 15.
However, in the main I agree with APD on his outline.  Cannot really fault him at all.

Possible -but I do not like locks playing as loosies - it never works out in the long run.

Love your side bud.....I'd have Arno Botha in the side at 8 or 7 with vermeulen at 7 if I played Arno at 8. But would be tempted to have Jacques du Plessis or PSDT at 7.
Lock partner for Etzebeth would be Lood or Willemse.
I'd have JJ on the wing ahead of Habana and Hougaard would be my 9.
Toss up between Goosen, Pollard or Lambie at 10.
I'd have the likes of Frans on the bench.

I like the team CC, the lions props are good and definitely won't let you down. Also, moving to Duane to 7 is definitely an option especially with the lack of quality 7's in the country. We do have a lot of depth at 8 with Van Der Walt, etc...and Ceradyne whilst I think PSDT would be excellent at 7, I think he's just too good at lock to move

What do you guys think of Kolbe, he's looking electric but do you think he'll be too small for test rugby?

Definitely Saf , Arno is a great player, we seem to have some real excellent number 8's. I completely forgot about Jacques du Plessis, he's definitely an option, a real talent as is Jacques Potgieter!
It's sad to think with all this depth we're still having to put up with the likes of Ruan and Matfield.
What are your thoughts on Kolbe Saffex?

Not a bad side cc but for your tight head and sithole is handy but not our best option at 13. Carr is not physical enough for a test 8...i see him more as a 6

I like Kolbe he is a real talent. While I prefer bigger players, he is the one little guy who could make it but I would only play him on the wing

Didn't he shine for the Baby Boks at seven? I am sure that he has had a few great games at seven at some stage?

I would pick a fit Bekker above any other 5 in the world, unfortunately he's almost never completely without injury. :-(

Agreed. This guy is a star on the wing.
Kolbe (or Colbe) is a real speed merchant with good hand ball skills supported with a strong running game and sidestep.
He also has guts and is not afraid to tackle.
Just a matter of time before he pulls the Green and Gold over his shoulders.
Not so sure about Carr....
Like the pairing of Pollard and Reinach.

Not a single mention of Jacques Potgieter.

Have we officially disowned him? Or is he now or double, reverse back double bluff triple agent?

He was pretty awesome this year.

I like the teams Saf, shows just how much depth we have. The first would definitely have us challenging for 1st place ranking,  even the second to be honest. Are you not a fan of Vermeulen?

And I like Potgieter, I mentioned him in one of the above post but admittedly forgot him in my opening post.

Btw, welcome to the boards Plum, I'm liking your posts.

I know no-one will agree with my fullback but screw Willie and his stupid little chip kicks . . . not to mention his blatant simulation. Habana is also on shaky ground in this regard.
